Ahhh April Fool's Day...that day that may have evolved from the changing of the calendar such that New Year's Day was changed from April1st to January 1st, or from Constantine who let his fool run his government for a day. Regardless, tis a day for tomfollery and jests, for pranks and fools errands. A day for finding salt in the sugar jar, and who knows what all in your email's inbox!
One thing is true and true everyday of the year: Love can make the wisest man act the fool and the wisest woman feel very foolish. Love has a habit of sometimes making us think in odd ways, making us look for answers in the wrong places and mostly either making us feel ridiculously happy or, perversely, incredibly sad. Love lets us forgive almost anything, act silly and goofy, give unselfishly and ... and ...ad infinitum.
Remember though, it is often the small, silly, goofy little things we do with those whom we love that grow and take on intense meaning as they reflect our love for each other. Incorporate such things in your writing as they make the love shown between characters seem that much more real, more touchable and thus, that much more believable!
Play an unusual prank this year...do super-special things for random people. They will spend the day wondering why and waiting for the other shoe to fall. *grin*--just joking...

spazmom : This was great. I love your glances into the world around you. I think all writers are people watchers...it's how we gather material for characters. Good job.
Just doing my bit to get folks really seeing what's around them and realizing they can use these things :)
Briar Rose : I love people watching! Great descriptions of people and action at your little bar. Well done newsletter!
Thank you!
Finally, I simply must enclose a bit of an email from a newbie. This person was excited about my using something written by them in this newsletter. But more, far more, this email is a testament to what writing.com is all about. It made my day, and so I want to share it with all of you, because it is truly TO everyone at WDC!
NFR writes:
Wow! You've made this newbie's day! Thank you so much for taking the time to review my piece. I'm so new at writing that I have less than ten writing pieces in my portfolio and about three that I'm working on.
I wish I could describe the fun I'm having at Writing.com. It constantly amazes me how kind and helpful the staff and members are. It's almost like a family! When you need something, there's someone willing to jump in and give assistance. When you feel like your writing can't hold a candle to the writing of other members, someone pops up with encouraging remarks or gift points. I think the whole world could learn some things if they spent just a few days on this site. At Writing.Com there are people who really seem to care and want the best for you. Wow!
Thanks, too, for deciding to use my piece in your newsletter. (See? More encouragement!) I am truly honored.
No, my new friend, it is we who are honored. To share in the excitement of a new writer is something incredibly special. So, too, are all the members of this family who reach out, encourage, offer help and devote much time to keeping this place as special as it truly is.
