WdC Newport Upgrade
Hey, everyone--how are you?
Have you noticed the changes going on around here? If you haven't, you must have been hiking in the wilderness with no outside communication at all. How are you liking it so far? There's a definite learning curve, but I like it. The portfolios are much more personal now, and more visitor friendly. That is, they're visitor friendly if the bios are filled out. Don't procrastinate on this area--make it yours and have fun with it.
Last week's " Newsletter (Spare)" topic was Sliders, and it gave some great instructions on how to use the feature. If you missed it, you really should grab a copy. It covered fun games and helpful stuff! You know sliders are wonderful interactives, don't you?
Be sure and make a fan/favorite of Site News and Announcements so you'll be among the first to know. It answers a lot of the questions about the new features too. Keep up to date and it'll be more fun.
If you have questions or find an issue with the upgrades, you can make this fourm a fan/favorite and post here.
"Beta Tests: Comments"
There's a lot of big changes, and some small ones, so stay informed.
Did you notice all the grand, new emoticons SMs created for us? Read about them and get the codes in the News and Announcements.
Mushrooms and Butterflys--it must be Spring.

Comment: Great links - I particularly like the IRIS. I believe I see one in my future. I have a laptop that I can use as a writing tablet but it never caught on. There is just nothing like, IMO, the feel of writing in a brand new, crisp, white notebook. Now I will be able to - Yipee! Thanks esprit
Thanks, Lizzie, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you'll get one. If you get a chance, go to the website and check it out, it is an absolutely magical new fangled gadet!

Comment: Nice job on this newsletter! A lot of those links look really useful, I'll have to check them out. I know I've had trouble with keeping on task, for instance... well, right now! (I'll forgive myself because this will probably save me time in the long run, though )
Hey, writing to the newsletter is keeping on task! New ideas are good for the imagination.

Comment: These are some excellent tools and definitely ones that I will be using! It would be so much easier to get my writing goals accomplished every day... Well done on this very informative newsletter!
Thanks! If you find one or two that are especially helpful, let us all know--would you? And don't call your searches for handy stuff 'procrastinating from writing', call it 'researching for handy gadgets to help keep you writing'. I would especially like to know which tools you use and why you like them.

Comment: This was some very good information. I am always amazed at how much free advice there is for writers and I keep finding more like these that you brought up. It does make it easy to spend time just reading the material rather than writing.
Thank you, Christine. My opinion is that writers need to spend time away from writing occasionally to reboot their imagination. Just as your computer's hard drive cache, history and temporary files fills up and begins to slow down the machine, your creativity does the same thing. Both need cleaning to get rid of all those old, extra bits of temporary thoughts that are slowing your writing down. You might even need a defragging. An afternoon in the sun is a good Restart program.
We always appreciate the feedback, thanks!
