Letter from the editor

"Snow may look like glitter, but it may trap people indoors with killers and malevolent spirits." `AMC.

What do ya do when the cold, brings more than frozen toes, and yellow snowcones. *Laugh* ? Get a great movie to cuddle down with, and if your snowman grows teeth, and suddenly sports a weapon, don't stand there and ask why? *Smirk* I watch and read more horror and suspence during the long winter months we Canadians endure every year. I am often spooked, chilled and slightly disturbed. *Laugh* There is never a drought for new horror movies subject to snowman, snowstorms, winter isolation, frozen corpses, reinaminations, and the floods of great older movies known for being both classics and "B" rated to keep us somewhat creeped out and amused.

A small list of movies, I know many here have seen, and if no need to, of movies all set in the most creepy snowfallen scenery. Tell me what ya think? These all still give me chills along with the cold. There are not in any particalar order, dive right in. *Laugh*

*Bullet* The Shining (1980)

*Bullet* 30 days of Night (2007)

*Bullet* Frostbitten (2006)

*Bullet* DreamCatcher (2003)

*Bullet* Ice spiders (2007)

*Bullet* Jack frost (1998)

*Bullet* Whiteout (2009)

*Bullet* Let The Right One In (2008)

*Bullet* Cold Prey (2007)

*Bullet* The Last Winter (2008)

Enjoy the next snowstorm! know what I do, grab a pillow, lights on, husband near, and know the quickest route away from the T.V, when the horror starts. *Laugh*

Comments, ah! Oponions flow. *Laugh* from my last newsletter. "'Porcelain, Horror & Evil Drains'Open in new Window. thanks everyone! *Bigsmile*

Ahh...the bathroom, a place no one in my family will enter after I have left it.*Laugh* Great Newsletter, kiddo, keep 'em coming. billwilcox

Oh! *Laugh* I can only imagine the horror. Thanks Bill.

*Laugh* Now, I'll have a difficult time thinking of the bathroom as my think-tank room. (Forgive the pun.) But you are right, so much mystery happens in there.
Thanks for a great NL. *Smile* Joy Author Icon

Think-tank I agree Joy. You should see the collections of reading materials on my toilet's tank, well used, from three boys. a place of horrific imaginations and a trusty book in case time need to be killed. *Laugh**Smirk* Ever been in your bathroom and the lights go out? I have. *Smirk*

Oh my gosh, Staine, I tell you when I was a kid I was TERRIFIED to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. My house was haunted, I swear! LOL!! Awesome look at horror this week and how we can find it in the simple things. StephBee Author Icon

Thank Steph! My youngest brought this one on, scrared to flush one time he was. *Laugh* and still wants the door open, at all times, thank goodness he has daddy the brave mighty plumber. *Smile* the warrior of the horror in bathrooms and drains.

Hi Stained!
Bathrooms. YIKES! What do you mean kids have an lingering fear of the toilet swallowing them? That hole leads to the sewer and we all know what lives in sewers. (Alligators, monsters, and things like "It".) This very adult fear was crystalized in the movie, "Deep Rising" (1998). The guy's on the pot and the monster shoots a barbed tentacle through the pipes and right up the guy's... *Shock* Maybe we should go back to chamber-pots.
-- Laura LJPC - the tortoise Author Icon

Oh! Golly yes, like in "The Dreamcatchers", they come out of you know where, ouch! and one part is a nasty tiolet surivial of the evil alien. hahaha! I remember grammie having a chamber pot, and I feared that too, I always thought the pot was alive in that dark corner, where the shadows always seemed to be awake. *Smirk*
