Participation
One of the best ways to network and meet other people in our community is by participation. When members participate more in a contest or activity, everyone has fun. This means taking a little more time than just writing and dropping your entry in a contest. It means commenting on other entries, or making helpful suggestions to the person running the activity.
It's always helpful to have a new set of eyes looking at your contest page and letting you know if the rules are clear and easy to read. Be sure to rate and review the activity or contest, to help promote it within the community. And if there's a problem, a gentle reminder to award prizes or announce the winners is always appreciated. Sometimes life just gets away on a person and deadlines are forgotten.
When I run "15 for 15 Contest --- Closed" , it's always a fun round when members chat about where their ideas came from each day, or comment on each others entries. Sometimes they just ask where I found the crazy picture prompt of the day. But it's always fun to get to know new members who are participating, and get to know their style.
Moderators are promoted in part because of their site participation. They don't bite and can actually be really helpful if you just ask. Don't let yourself get frustrated trying to do something when help is always near. We've all been newbies and all had to figure out that linking thing called a bitem and ML tagging.
Responding to reviews or emails can be a good way to network. When personalities mesh, or don't mesh, you'll be able to decide whether to ask another member to help you with a project or review a special item. All in all, you'll get more from our community if you put some effort into interacting with other members. Write on!

Last month's question: What is your favorite holiday activity?
billwilcox responded: My favorite Holiday activity is putting out my Christmas balls...*sigh*
atwhatcost replied: Nighttime walks to admire massive holiday displays. We have streets where neighbors get together for one massive production. Two small blocks try to out do each other every year. We go to look, snap photos, and see if we can agree on which block won. (Fortunately, we don't have to tell the people living on those blocks. lol) If it's cold enough, we have hot chocolate afterwards and admire our photos on the computer together.
BIG BAD WOLF is Howling said: I like eating the good food. Turkey and ham and ..... You get the idea.
scribbler sent in: I'm away at university so coming home to see my old, but still good, friends is my favourite holiday activity. That and ice skating!
