I will cover everything from poetry and stories of every length to customs and creative projects. If it has to do with romance and love, I will share it in this newsletter. The next few newsletters, edited by Red the Roving Romance Reporter, will bring to your attention MORE poetry forms that are linked to the romance/love genre. This month: The Lilibonelle. The Lilibonelle is a recent poetry form created by one of the editors of Sol Magazine. Bonnie Williams, a poet from New Jersey, not only created this form but also a variation on it, as well. (See Below) BRIEF HISTORY As stated above, in the realm of poetry form creation (beginning centuries ago), the Lilibonelle is but a baby. WHAT’S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT? One of the topics you can convey with the Lilibonelle is love and passion. MUST HAVE’S *At least 4 lines per stanza and 4 stanzas total (this is the basic form - see below for the expanded variation of the Lilibonelle). *No specific meter required. *Rime En Kyrielle (Click here for more information: "WC Newsletter #157 - Rhyme Time Part 3" by Red Writing Hood <3 ). This is basically a line that is repeated and fit into the rhyme scheme. Each stanza takes a line from the first stanza to begin each subsequent stanza. EXAMPLE: Stanza #1 Line 1 Line 2 Line 3 Line 4 Stanza #2 Line 2 (Line 5 is really Line 2 repeated) Line 6 Line 7 Line 8 Stanza #3 Line 3 (Line 9 is really Line 3 repeated) Line 10 Line 11 Line 12 Stanza #4 Line 4 (Line 13 is really Line 4 repeated) Line 14 Line 15 Line 16 (This line may also be a variation of Line 1 or Line 1 repeated) COULD HAVE’S or WHAT IS THE POET’S CHOICE IN ALL THIS? *Any rhyme scheme desired. *Subject matter. They aren’t always specifically about love. You can also express yearning or any deep emotion. Dig deep within yourself and allow your reader a peek inside. VARIATIONS OF THE LILIBONELLE: *In the expaned variation you may choose more than 4 lines per stanza, just make sure that you are consistant throughout the poem. (EXAMPLE: if you pick 5 lines, then each stanza will have five lines and you will end up with 5 stanzas in total.) ***Like any poetry form, learn the rules and then learn what works in breaking them!*** CHALLENGE: Next month I will be doing a form created for this challenge. I dare YOU to try the challenge put to you in my last newsletter: Create a LOVE poetry form and send the instructions and any other interesting information (ie. why you chose to create it that way or why you chose that title, etc.) in to me (either through the box below or in email). The best ones will be featured and be given gps! Theme: The Lilibonelle.
