Product Reviews
As writers, we are encouraged to be readers too. There are groups on WdC that promote reading and discussion of books, one book at a time. What if you just read a great piece, or you watched a movie that touched you and you want to share it? That is where Product Reviews come in.
Product reviews are reviews for published works. Instead of giving feedback to the author/creator of a piece directly, you can share your opinion on a published piece with your fellow WdCers. The products reviewed are Books, DVDs, Music, Software, VHS Videos and Video Games. Anything that requires creativity and has an author can be reviewed via http://www.writing.com/main/list_items/type/product_reviews . You can also find this link by going to the navigation menu on the left and hover over "Browse By Type." Product reviews are a bit farther down the list.
Each time you finish reading a book or watching a movie, you can follow the Product Review link. On that page, you'll click on "Add a new Product Review." This takes you to a page asking you for the item's ASIN, or "Amazon.com Standard Item Number." If you don't know that number - no problem. You can follow the link and search for the book on Amazon. Copy the ASIN number and simply go back through your browser until you reach the Writing.Com page where you paste the ASIN into the proper field.
Creating a Product Review is easy. For each item, Writing.Com has a template of relevant questions for you to answer, and there is space for you to leave your personal opinion or anything you want to mention that you feel wasn't covered by the preset questions. Perusing the Product Reviews page will lead you to books others have read and give you an idea what to expect. When you read a Product Review by another member, you can even review that and let them know if their review was helpful, or if you agree or disagree with it.
Aside from having yet another outlet to let everybody know what you like and seeing your name on the Writing.Com list of Product Reviewers, you can earn gift points and merit badges by visiting "The WDC Angel Army" 's Product Review forum. Don't forget to read all of the rules and follow them.
Have fun reading, watching, listening, and reviewing! |

In "Anniversary Countdown" I asked readers to come up with a creative word that could be used to describe 11th, 22nd, 33rd (and so on) birthdays or anniversaries.
M.Harris wrote: Equal digit birthdays = Equalbday
Good idea.

Works for eleven, but what about the other same digit birthdays?
For my next newsletter, I am looking for contests and activities that are managed/administered by a team of WdC members. An example is "The Writer's Cramp" Please use the submission box below to bring any of those to my attention.
