The holidays are here. They're fun, entertaining, and they bring people together. Romance is a subtle qualitity that plays in holiday gatherings and events. Romance wraps the holidays, Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzza, in a warm blanket around us and resonates for months. Enjoy the holidays - and the romance! |

Some of the most romantic moments in our lives happen during the month of December. The holidays we're most familiar with include Christmas, Kwanzza, and Hanukkah. So what do they all have in common?
Hope.
And Hope can move mountains.
Hope is what embodies romance, be it a new romance, offering the promise of love forever; a couple who has been together for several years who see hope grow in the eyes of their children; or a couple who has been together over fifty years who see hope in the future through the eyes of their grandchildren.
Finding hope in the Christmas season
Christmas is about a baby, the birth of Jesus Christ. And the birth of a baby implies hope, hope for the future. It's a positive, upbeat feeling that wraps around one like a magic blanket and makes one feel happy, upbeat, and romantic this time of year.
Hanukkah and Hope
Hanukkah is the miracle of a one day supply of oil lasting eight days. It is celebrated for eight nights and days. I don't mean it to sound simplistic, but miracles embody hope, hope for a better way of life. And romance offers hope for a better way of life going forward.
Kwanzza and Hope
Kwanzza celebrates the 7 principles of African Heritage. They include: unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith. I'd like to think hope binds these principles all together. Hope provides the romance that is steady and true and gets a couple through their years together.
Find the hope in your holidays and turn it into something romantic – share the love with that special someone in your life, your parents, your siblings – your family.
Challenge: Write a poem about hope using one of the above mentioned holidays as the setting, and send it to me. I'll award my favorites with a 10K Awardicon and I'll feature it in one of my future newsletters.

I have no feedback for the 12 NOV 2014 Newsletter, so write in and tell me about your holiday romance. Or ask me a question about the romance genre. I'd love to answer them!
StephBee is a 911 dispatcher for LAPD. Her latest story is "Mr. Christmas Elf" based on the same short story found here on WDC. You can find "Mr. Christmas Elf" in the 2014 Christmas Collection released by Victory Tales Press. Can Elvis the Christmas Elf help fulfill Jules' Christmas list?
