"A good poem creates a world that somehow touches the reader. That world is built of images that come to the reader through vivid sense details and the music of vivacious language."
Paul Janeczko
"Poetry is the record of the best and happiest moments of the happiest and best minds."
Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792-1822)
A poet ought not to pick nature's pocket. Let him borrow, and so borrow as to repay by the very act of borrowing. Examine nature accurately, but write from recollection, and trust more to the imagination than the memory.
Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772 - 1834)

A Spring Poetry Fling
In Florida our spring melds with our fall with five days of “winter” where the temperature dips below 32 degrees Fahrenheit thrown into the mix just to keep things interesting.
My childhood, however, was spent on a farm in Michigan. After snowstorms and blizzards, the melt and burst of green leaves, flowers, bees and butterflies, spring becomes something almost magical.
One of my most fond memories of spring was of the first buds of the honeysuckle just beginning and my baby bunnies burrowed in their mama’s fluff nest in their cage in the barn.
In celebration of spring, I’ve found a couple of concrete (shape) poems that remind me of the season. Enjoy.
Butterfly Form
This poem sprung forth from the mind of Michael Degenhardt. Most likely a member of The Writers and Poetry Alliance, he also created the Markette. I wasn’t able to find anything else on this poet and form creator.

Lucky Leaf
This form was created by Christina R. Jussaume in the spring of 2007. Also a member of the above alliance of poets, she created many forms besides the lucky leaf. A few of them are: Joseph’s Star, Michelle’s Heart, and Tree of Life. Here is futher information about this author and a link listing some of her published works at Goodreads: http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/2740826.Christina_R_Jussaume. While the poetry I read didn’t have the depth that I enjoy reading, she is passionate about her faith, as evidenced by her book list of religious/spiritual titles.

Comment: Regarding: "Invalid Item"
Just thought I'd share that I run the NaPoWriMo group and forum. I also have a link to a workshop for creating poetry collections that is free for anyone to take on their own time and speed. Great newsletter!
Thank you for sharing!

Comment: I also went to a used book store to pick up a teacher's reference book for ideas to teach. Sometimes a calendar has what the celebration for the day. Finally, teachers supply stores have the same reference books at full price. Usually these books have newer celebrations. All in all the National Poetry month should be fun. I enjoy reading the poems as well as writing poems. Thank you for your helpful suggestions.
Thank you, both for sharing and your appreciation of my suggestions

Comments: Thanks for the reminder of what April is all about. I don't think I ever missed an April in "Dew Drop Inn" [18+] . A few years ago, I also participated in an offsite group, but I didn't have as good a time there, at all. Ever since, I decided to stick with WdC groups and no place else. I am a partizan that way.
As am I!
