About This Newsletter

The ode lives upon the ideal, the epic upon the grandiose, the drama upon the real.
~ Victor Hugo

In a way, a lot of my humor comes from presenting things that are dramatic or shocking and then people not having socially appropriate responses, having people denying the drama by failing to react to it, and that's a really classic form of humor.
~ Chuck Palahniuk

Identity is part of drama to me. Who am I, why am I behaving this way, and am I aware of it?
~ Matthew Weiner

Letter from the editor

Sometimes the mundane can be turned into something quite interesting. For example, writing a newsletter should be quite uneventful, until your cat decides that the best place and time for grooming is in your lap while you're trying to type, thus you're both in each others way, all the while watching the movie How To Train Your Dragon. *Cat* *Dragon* He meows when your elbow nudges him in the head and you respond with a verbal complaint, yet neither one is willing to budge and the movie steals most of your focus anyway. Both parties are quite content no matter the discomfort.

It's situations like that which can turn something boring - I'm not saying that newsletter writing is boring! *Bigsmile* - into quite an interesting moment one would want to record. Life is full of humorous moments which are never written down and end up forgotten at times. While drama surrounds us on a regular basis, and let's face it, we make our own drama most days, it's up to us to turn it into something different if not even extraordinary.

Think of the basic daily activities we do regularly, then add something unexpected to it to make it memorable. It can be humorous, romantic, thrilling, scary, anything you can think of, but you'll create a moment your reader will remember. They may forget the entire story or what the whole was about, but that one moment can stick with them forever. I hope you don't think I'm joking. How many times did you read a book you fell in love with but can't remember anything other than a single moment you've read and it stuck with you throughout the years? There are quite a few I can remember.

Each life, even if it's that of a character, is unique in its own way. Everyone has different experiences and all of us react differently to certain situations. Some would have gotten rid of the cat in the lap long time ago. Instead, three newsletters in and we're still at it as his back paw pushes my arm away from the keyboard while he's cleaning himself. I guess everyone's tolerance level is different. *Laugh*

'Til next time!
~ Gaby *WitchHat* & Tarzan *Cat2*
