About This Newsletter

Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer's day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.

Letter from the editor

Now that it's summer in most parts of the world a lot of people take advantage of it. No one wants to sit at home doing nothing. Taking advantage of the beautiful weather is one of the perks this time of the year. People spend a lot more time outside than in. What does that mean for you and your contest?

It really doesn't matter much. People who do have time will come around and participate. Sometimes it's refreshing to have new names and new writing in your contest. If you're running a contest where participation is limited, new faces are always welcome, but old ones are missed at the same time. Most important thing is to keep advertising and spreading the word that you do have something for writers to participate in.

Those who don't have a lot of time may prefer to enter contests with smaller word counts. Even a contest, no matter how continuous, can take a downfall due to the summer being right around the corner. Making a small change, easing up on the contestants can prove rather fruitful. Then again, not all of us are willing to drop the ball, whichever way you look at it. Those who like a challenge will be back no matter what.

During the summer months writing can take a back seat sometimes, but that's not all together a bad thing. We come back more refreshed with new writing ideas and even more inspiration to challenge ourselves.

'Til next time!
