“My blog is a collection of answers people don’t want to hear to questions they didn’t ask.”
― Sebastyne

I think many people think of blogs and believe they are just a long version of Facebook or Twitter - telling your audience about your daily activities or complaining about various things. While that's fine to do, (I used to think the same thing) but they can be so much more. I'm currently involved in a blog challenge that talks about current television and movies. It's personal, but it doesn't have to be super personal. We're only in Day 3 of our challenge but I'm really enjoying learning little details about the people participating. It's like a group of friends sitting in a circle talking. It's casual and friendly.

Are you having trouble finding your niche' here at Writing.com? Do you want to participate more but you're just not quite ready to start reviewing or sharing your stories? Why not try to break the ice by starting a journal. There are lots of blogging groups that offer daily prompts to help you break the ice (or writer's block) and I totally recommend joining one or more than one. It's a very healthy activity to get yourself into. There are many types of blogs/journals, even poetry journals. If you can dream it, there is a way to blog about it.

Here is something I never thought I'd say - One of the best parts of writing in a blog is making friends with other people. I'm not a tremendously social person, but I love this place. It's like a second home. I'm safe here and no matter how long I'm away, coming back I'm always met with open arms and friendly faces. Don't get me wrong, I think writing is important and reviewing, very important. However, there are times when you can't find the right motivation and you need to find other ways to keep writing. So, that's why I blog. I may not (or I may we'll see) write about anything personal but the important part is I'm writing.

*Pencil* Do you blog? Why (or why not)?
*Pencil* What do you find is the best part?
*Pencil* Do you do better with prompts or just free-writing?

Share with me your answers and I'll share your thoughts in the next newsletter. *Smile*
