Letter from the editor

There comes a time in life where you realize that the every day mundane thing isn't enough. Day in and day out the same old. It gets tiring. Traveling is an experience not a single picture could ever replace. The smells, the taste of food, the experience of it all is worth more than money could ever buy. Not to mention the newfound knowledge or the added imagination a new place can bring.

As a writer, you observe people, soak in the surroundings you're in, but can you truly describe them unless you've been there? If you've never visited a place, how can you write about it? And if you have, what are the most memorable moments you've captured in your personal library of memories?

Our writing is filled with things familiar to us. No matter how far fetched our imagination and how far it takes us, there will always be something in our writing that makes it our home. Every place we write about and describe, it will make a place in our mind, whether we visited it before or not. But what of the reader? They experience things through our words. You have to make sure that they can remember it just as you do. You want them to think of a book and remember a certain time and place you've described as if they themselves were there. The reader is not simply passing through your story. They are in it!

'Til next time!
