Letter from the editor

Congratulations! You've taken a step forward toward improving your lot as a writer by joining Writing.Com. I'm certain your decision will reap many benefits on your writing journey.

Did you join as free member? You're in good company if you did as almost 97% of members enjoy the Free membership.

Obviously there are some limitations to this membership level--fewer features, pop-up ads, limits on the types and number of items you can create and host in your Portfolio, and on and on. Just as obvious, the higher the membership level you pay for, the more features and benefits you receive.

I joined almost 12 years ago in May 2008. The current prices for the Basic, Upgraded, Premium and Premium Plus memberships have remained the same since that date. Yes, The StoryMaster Author Icon has not raised membership prices in at least 12 years. (And no, I'm NOT advocating a price increase. *Smile*).

Where can you go to find out just what features a free membership has? Is there one place that outlines the benefits available to paid memberships? Check out the following:
Compare Free and Paid Membership Benefits Open in new Window. (E)

This item not only lists the five membership levels available at WDC, but also compares the features and benefits of each level in an easy-to-read table AND the costs for each paid membership. You can even decide to use a paid level for as little as three months.

Writing.Com automatically offers each member a free one month trial of our feature-rich Premium membership! During the free trial, members will enjoy and have access to most of the features and tools of our Premium membership (which includes Basic and Upgraded tools, as well). You can read more information about this offer by clicking on this link: "Premium Membership Free TrialOpen in new Window..

Listing the benefits that a paid member enjoys would be as long as my arm. For me, the Premium level is perfect. For you? Well, only you can say. But I hope you'll take some time to compare the various membership levels to see if one might be a good fit for you.

I wish you the greatest success in all your writing endeavors. Write on!

Ask & Answer

Thanks for spending time with me today. If you liked what you read (or if you didn't), please take time and drop me a line. I'd love to hear your ideas.

From the newsfeed and mailbag:

From hbk16: A review is a point of view. When I review work, I put some criteria. The main idea or the issue importance is the first criterium. The expressing should translate the exact meaning and should be live. Then the language standard and the vocabulary are the last criteria. Each criterium is coted half or one star. This is a featured issue.

The methods of reviewing are as varied as the persons reviewing.

From x The T Lady x Author Icon: Oh my!! Thank you for picking out my poem in your editor picks, wow! Thank you so much, this is so thoughtful. Thank you.

         You're welcome.
