Half her face was hidden behind the hood of her cloak. The one visible amber colored eye glared mercilessly at him. Her lips were set in a thin, hard line. Several small wounds and the accompanying blood marred one cheek. Marred? Actually the wounds didn't do anything to hinder her beauty. If anything, it enhanced it drawing his eyes to her unnatural ones.
The only thing that could draw his eyes away from hers was the glowing stone hanging about her neck on a string of leather. He had heard stories of such a stone. It gave great powers to any who wore it. It had only been a legend, until now.
Now he watched as the mists swirled and eddied in the Stone of Vonlet. Images seemed to form and then quickly change before one realized what it might be. Sometimes the mists seemed to take on color, reds or blues, sometimes too many. The power... He sucked in air, filling his lungs to bursting, trying to calm the greed filling his heart.
