Dragon sits upon his throne of gold coins piled high, You are the adventurer...
Dragon sits upon his throne,
Of gold coins piled high.
You are the adventurer
Heroic in my eye.
Dragon sits upon his throne,
And waits for you to come.
Whomever you may be,
He waits for you to come.
Slayer.
Bailer.
Bait.
Sacrifice.
Whomever you may be,
He waits for you to come.
Creeping.
Crawling.
Sneaking.
Slinking.
Wait for your moment to come.
Water drips…
Move slowly.
Was that a hiss?
Watch your back.
Dragon sits upon his throne,
Growing sleepier.
Eyes slowly begin to close…

He is awake no more.

Dragon sits upon his throne,
Of dreams and lullabies.
You now see the trove
Where he lies.
An eye blinks sleepily…
Or was it a sly wink?
A tail waves lazily…
Or was it craftily?

Do you dare creep past those eyes?
Do you dare?
Do you dare?
You dared.
Do you dare creep past those claws?
Do you dare?
Do you dare?
You dared.
Do you dare creep past that tail?
Do you dare?
Do you dare?
You dared.

Now you see the dragon’s throne
No more than worthless bones.
Where are the gold coins piled high?
Who knows?
Who knows?

You trip upon a bone.
Dragon awakes.
Eyes searching round
Is all it takes.
Dragon sits upon his throne,
Looking straight at you.
Groping back for a sword
That is what you do.
A blade reaches your fingers
And with a battle cry
You leap forward
All readiness
Though you may die.

Dragon is upon his throne:
Sitting still no longer.
Rearing back on his legs
Suddenly he looks stronger.
A roar fills the cave.
Try to be brave.

Do you know what to do?
Do you know?
Do you know?
Stab.
Pull back.
Repeat.
Lunge.
Dodge.
Duck.
Dragon’s tail is a deadly mace.
Claws itch to claw your throat.
“Minced meat for dinner,” Dragon thinks.

Bones are being scattered.
Dust and dirt arise.
Flames scorch your hair.
Smoke fills the air.
Slash.
Stab.
Duck.
A skull rolls past.
So many like you have died.
Stop.
Think.
What will you gain if you die?
What will you gain?
What will you gain?
Nothing.
What will you gain if you live?
What will you gain?
What will you gain?
Everything.

Dragon stands upon the ground
Looking straight at you.
Hypnotic eyes are enthralling
And they capture you.

Dragon’s tail sweeps out.
You tumble to the floor.
Will?
Gone.
Hope?
None.
Like a leaden weight you fall.
Just before you give in
To full fledged submission
A tiny hope begins to burn;
A plan in the making.
Yes.
You can do it.
Reach.
Grab.
Fly.
Soar.
Dragon is the enemy no more.

Leap upon the scaled back
And try to tame the beast.

Will?
Yes.
Hope?
Yes.
Like a cloud you rise.

Wings beat.
Up.
Down.
Down.
Up.
Try to keep your seat.

Dragon rises in the air,
Wondering what to do.
Take a moment to relax.
Yes, you made it through.
Dragon flies out of the cave,
Thinking, “Foolish knave.”
A roar fills the air;
A roar that raises your hair.

Dragon soars through the sky,
Anger flashing in his eye.
Finally he understands
Triumphantly snaking toward the land.
Look about you.
Yes, look around.
Ruler of the sky,
No one else can fly this high.

As the sun sets,
The two of you go lower.
Dragon sadly lets you down.
Raise your hand and wave farewell.
Remember the cave where dragons will forever dwell.
