I sat in a bar many years ago enjoying my cold beer on a hot summer day. A guy next to me asked this question. " Do you know why fire engines are red?" When I replied "No" he proceeded with this piece of intellectual wisdom.

Two plus two is four
Four times three is twelve
There's twelve inches in a ruler
A ruler is Queen Elizabeth
Queen Elizabeth had some ships
The ships sailed across the ocean
The ocean was full of fish
The fish had fins
The Fins fought the Russians
The Russians were red
and fire engines are always "rushin"
