Luke 7: 27-35

On earth there was a man named John
Whose job was to prepare for the Holy One.
Rebuking wrong, waste, want and greed,
He taught of God's way of fulfilling need.
He baptized young and old the same,
Tax men, soldiers, sinners and lame
Who came to hear of the One soon to appear.
Some believed and some turned their ear.
"He will come with bread and wine
And sit with poor men down to dine."
So Jesus came and met with John
And John baptized the Holy One.
Then Jesus taught that John was great
Of those that women do create
But those in God's kingdom rank not by deed
But that grace shall choose the least to lead.
