This morning I woke up, got down the bowl
Took down the box, opened it wide,
When out of the box, there skittered this mole
With hundreds of Cheerios chewed up inside.
I wondered how it got there, this grey mystery
With its long whiskers, tiny onyx eyes,
It fell in my bowl, then looked up to me
This miniscule pestilence ridden surprise.
I thought I should do something, my tummy it lurched
While this rodent, it peered from my bowl,
So I bowed for the while, to the toilet church
Then stood wobbling to confront yonder mole.
When I got to the counter, the mole long since gone
The Cheerios chewed, lying in pieces.
I dumped the rest in the bin by the phone
Then proceeded to sweep up mole feces.
