I walk into school, ignored by all Nothing changes as I slouch down the hall People push and shove as they sneer They think of me as the awful queer But one little thing brightens my day A smile from Rachel as she walks away She is the one, the Queen of Cool She is the one that rules the school One day as I slouch, sit alone during lunch I hear some commotion from the popular bunch I listen to the yelling and the gasps go around As Derrick gets up, throwing his chair to the ground Are my ears lying, did I hear what I heard? YES! Yes it is, true is the word Derrick is gone, he is left from sight Rachel my sweet is gone from his might Her angel blue eyes flash my way It looks as if she has something to say Her stare pierces my skin and sends up a jolt It gives me new energy, like a newborn colt The next day at school, she walks up to me Without any girls I am happy to see “Hey,” she says calmly with ease, “Come with me to the dance, please.” I cannot speak, lost in disbelief I am no longer sad or full of grief “Y-yes,” I manage to reply I am surprised, mostly I’m shy A big smile spread across her face A clumsy guy gets a girl of grace She bends over and gives me a kiss Right on the lips, she doesn’t miss Happily she bounces away As I wait, soaking up the day Love is true, but love is blind The very next day, I’m left behind! |
