Remembrance |
Iowa farm girl with eyes of brightest blue So much to us all, we will always miss you Your smile warmed our lives forever Your heart as big as the sky Spirit bright and shining, a light that will not die Illness could not quench your courage And death had dare not try It is hard to let you go We do not want to say goodbye But the journey has led to this temporary parting The promise of eternity lies free Just beyond those puffy clouds you’d close your eyes to see May the road and Dad rise up to greet you And the wind be at your back Memories of your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren sustain your heart Be with your true love in heaven, nevermore to part Remember us all and how much we love you Stay safe and happy and warm “Take er easy,” that’s what Rip said Let him hold you in his arms Remember us in heaven, We will see you there again Mysteries of life will be revealed And worries of this world will perish then and cease, When we see you both in paradise, Rest in peace, mom, rest in peace. In Memory of my mother - Died in November, Born in December and laid to rest on December 3, 2005 You will always be in my heart and memory, mom. November, December, and always. This poem was read at my mother's burial service, 12 years ago. |
