My dear sweet slope-tackler,
a joy to watch sliding down the mountain.
I leap for joy and attack the TV
as you make your run.
I may bat at your image on the screen,
but I only do it for love.
You have such a cuddly face
that I pine to milk tread.
Will you ever take me to the mountains
so we can play in the snow,
or will I be left to jump,
to hug you through the TV?
My daddy and sissy don't understand
why I leap at your face,
my paws clapping the screen.
I just want you to hold me, pet me.
Won't you take me in your cuddly arms
used for grappling ski poles?
I'll console you if you come home
without a single medal.
May my purrs melt the disappointment away.
May I have a chance to nap on your skis.
I just pine for the day when we meet
beyond my futile leaps at the TV.
