There came to me in dreams,
Painted on ivory canvas,
In kaleidoscopic fusion,
The vibrant tapestry of my life,
There were it seemed,
In the vast realms of my mind,
Two delicately balanced worlds,
Resting on scales of ancient brass,
The globes possessed secrets,
Jewels beyond earthly comprehension,
Such as worthy of entire kingdoms,
History’s end in the foretelling,
On my left whirled a collage of hues,
A patchwork of hedonistic pleasures,
Somehow alluring with pale promises,
Then fading into the dust of decay,
To my right spun a white crystal,
Shining love in its purest form,
Ruby’s sacrifice woven throughout,
Beckoning weary travelers home,
Suddenly it was known in my heart,
I was the person living that journey,
Seeing in the author's eyes my challenge,
Spirit adrift in the course of my choosing.
