Hope you all enjoy this simply little story of childhood. |
I dreamt I could fly, Said the boy with a cry. So very high, Right up to the sky. Did you flap your wings, Or did you just glide? Did you hop on an owl, And go for a ride? If you tell me your secret, And I pray that you will. It would make me so happy, It would be such a thrill. To soar with the birds, And the clouds and the sun. Oh Boy! Oh Boy! It would be so much fun. I could zip over mountains, And dance amongst trees. I could glide through the valleys, And soar over seas. I could fly through cities, To the highest of heights. Then dive to the ground, With Falcons and Kites. So I ask you once more Will you give me a lesson? On flying and gliding, I need but one session. The boy is silent, Then says with a grin. You need no direction, It comes from within. Now close your eyes, And please do not scream. The secret is that You simply must dream! A dream is where, You do as you wish. Like flying, or floating, Or swimming with fish. So up he went, Up over the hills, And over the trees, And over the fields. And he flew up towards, The sun so bright. He flew, he flew, he flew, Out of sight. When he came down, He said with a smile. That’s enough flying, I’ll be fine for a while. But if ever I decide, To go on a trip, I’ll dream a little dream. And go for a dip. In the ocean with some fish, Or maybe a whale. I’ll tickle a Manta Ray, Then ride on its tail. I’ll go to the moon, For a bite of its cheese. Or hunt with the lions, All crouched on our knees. So I thank you now, For the secret you’ve told. I’ll cherish it, and remember it, And treat it like gold. |
