Shattered Mirror

The mirror breaks
the shards fall to the floor
each as sharp as the dagger
that stands in my heart

I stare at the fragments on the floor
and feel the cold dagger
as it settles in my heart
and the dam of my tears breaks

My friend put the dagger there
it was she that broke my heart
and for her it is the mirror breaks
and lays scattered on the floor

The friendship each held in their heart
how easily it breaks
left like the glass on the floor
pierced by a simple dagger

For each freidnship that breaks
leaving it's shards on the floor
there is a dagger
left in someone's broken heart
