Earth is depopulated, save for one man. |
CHAPTER ONE: Ed slept in his bed, dreaming about how nice it would be to finally be alone. He wasn't the most social human being in the universe. Matter of fact,he often fantasized about being all alone. What he didn't know was that he would finally get the chance to experience peace and quiet for the first time. The clock was showing 6am and the alarm went off. Ed woke up and looked for his socks. After finding them, next to his pillow,he put them on and headed downstairs to make himself some coffee. The he noticed something very weird, there was no sound outside. No honking of car horns by irritated drivers,no engines,no train passing by his window. He hurried downstairs and looked through the window. There was nothing there. Except parked cars and a bus parked the middle of the street. He looked at the clock next to the kitchen counter....it was six ten am already. He yawned and looked at the coffee maker: ''Where the hell is everyone''..he asked the coffee maker, not really expecting a reply. Matter of fact he enjoyed a bit of piece and quiet. After making his cup of coffee,he hurried to the living room and turned on the TV. He set the TV to record his favourite show over night and wanted to watch before he went to work,since...thanks to his job he couldn't watch it when it aired. As he sat down and took a cup of coffee in his hand, looked at the screen, rising his eyebrow slightly. There was nothing on,except snow. And just as he got used to watching the morning show hosts shooting their mouths off about things they couldn't possibly understand. He yawned for the second time and stood up from the sofa, since there was nothing to watch on the idiot box he saw no need to sit there like some sort of a idiot watching snow. Holding his cup of coffee,he took another sip and looked outside the window yet again....the same cars were still parked in the excat same place, the bus still parked in the middle of the street. He quickly picked his pockets and searched for his smokes in the jacket. With a sigh he took out a box and gently fished the last of the cigaretes out. As he lit the it he looked over at the clock yet again. It was time to go to work. As he stepped outside,he took a deep breathe and inhaled as much smoke as he could from the lit cigarete before raising his eyebrow yet again. He couldn't hear anything, not even birds, which he found a bit odd, cosidering that he lived in a heavly wooded area. |
