A metaphorical poem about peer pressure.
Breathing hard
Running fast
Heart is pounding
Will I last?

I'm unstoppable
Can't catch me
I'm above all that
Don't you see?

My energy fades
Then I slow
They're catching up
Where can I go?

I can't push on
Slowing down
They've reached me
Should I give up now?

Then they say
Don't get mad
I understand you
Can it be that bad?

I run with them now
Turning around
If I feel so relaxed
Why do I feel so unsound?

They take off
And the pace gains speed
Now I feel free
But, will I lose my lead?

Fear grips me tight
When my vision is lost
Yet they drag me on
What path have I crossed?

I've lost all control
My opinions are gone
Now I feel scared
What road am I on?

They've led me to peril
It didn't take long
How I wish I could see
Where did I go wrong?

I avoided the pack
I ran the right way
My path was clear
How'd I lose my say?

Could It be changed?
Should I have known?
If I had run faster,
Would I feel so alone?
