Thump! Thump! Thu-punk!
He's glad I'm here,
anyone can tell with that whopping of his tail.
Round and round then down it swirls,
Whirling, twirling, and hurling,
as it beats against that floor.
Sometimes he'll roll over,
Sometimes he will stand,
but mostly he just jumps,
until his paws reach my hands.
Then with a big ol' sloppy kiss,
he goes down again,
his greeting time is over,
it's my turn to pet him with both empty hands.
That dog is ever loyal,
always and forever true,
he never puts away his smile,
or disobeys the rules.
He's the smartest dog I know,
he can sit, and stay, and shake,
and I never had to teach him how to finish off my steak.
It's amazing how this creature,
who can only bark and smile,
is smarter than some adults,
yet can still play like a child.
You see he knows the secrets,
not to be mean and growl,
but to love to the fullest,
and never wake me up with a howl.
