An example of my character's ghoul in play.
As soon as Andrew opened the door, he knew that something was wrong. There was a coat on the hook. And it was a woman's coat. Master didn't wear a coat, much less a woman's coat. Andrew didn't even bother wiping the snow off his boots. He quickly yanked them off and proceeded quietly into the house. He could feel that Master was anxious about something, so when he heard moaning sounds coming from behind the closed bedroom door, he panicked. Someone was hurting Master! He drew his gun as he shouldered the door open, barely taking the time to register a woman sitting atop Master, while he clutched wildly at the bedspread, clawing desperately to get away.

Andrew quickly fired three shots at the woman's back. That was all he could get off before he was somehow flying backward and slamming into the wall. The room spun crazily around him until it slowed and finally stopped. Andrew blinked and then became aware of Master standing over him, fury radiating from him in a cold wave. He didn't even have to speak and Andrew was explaining himself.

"I knew you were anxious, and when I walked in I heard moaning and I knew there was someone else here and I just thought that..." He blushed furiously as he suddenly realized what had really been going on. His embarrassment quickly deepened to a terrible shame as he began to wonder what was wrong with him, that Master had to go out and pick women up off of the streets...

Master nodded slowly and asked, "So... you were trying to protect me?"

Andrew nodded, sparkling tears forming in his eyes.

Master smiled wearily and knelt beside him.

"It's okay, buddy. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you. Look, I'm not mad. I promise."

Andrew looked up at him and sniffed.

"Promise?"

Master nodded seriously and replied, "Promise."

Andrew grinned, any trace of tears gone. He jumped up and hugged Master tightly about the neck, shrieking in delight when Master suddenly stood and began stomping around the room.

They both quieted, however, when they saw the corpse of the woman slumped over on the bed.

Master, after a minute, spoke in a subdued tone.

"What are we going to do with her?"

Andrew, still in a piggyback position on Master's back, replied just as quietly.

"Does anybody know she's here?"

The master's silence was enough for Andrew.

"Then you'll just have to call Magnus. He can get somebody to cover it up."

Master only nodded.

This is an example of a character of mine (for Vampire: The Requiem) in a non-standard setting. This is not official game material for this character, and never actually happened. If it seems like people like him, or are interested in learning more about my V:tR game (set in Chicago in the NWoD), I'll write more.

Also, I've gotten several comments that remark about Andrew's IQ. I often forget that not everyone (or, really, anyone) plays this game. Andrew is a ghoul. Forget everything you've read about ghouls or learned in other games, because V:tR uses something completely different. A vampire who forces a human to drink his blood engenders what is known as a Vinculum. A Vinculum creates in the human an artificial, but overwhelming, love. He will do anything the vampire asks of him, even if it's obviously self-destructive.

He does retain a capacity for reasoning and is still a person, so might misinterpret orders or disregard them entirely if he feels they endanger his regnant (his vampire).

The Vinculum also carries an addiction to vampire blood.

If anyone has any questions, or would like me to continue with this story, please email me.

I probably won't keep this story up much longer. I don't like it and feel it's far too short. And then there's the fact that it's not official game material. I might introduce Andrew's real regnant and post things I use every week if I feel enough people will enjoy it.
