This was a Dream I had. It was so powerful and concisethat I had to write it down.
I dreamt my grandmother died and we drove past her house and the top window was open.
I could see inside her and grandpaws bedroom. I was pointing and telling whomever was with
me where their beds were. Which bed was which. That my grandpaw slept in one bed and
grandma slept next to the window.
Then I noticed that the window was open and it could rain inside, or someone could
go in and steal something.Because all their belongings were still inside.
Well I went in and when I seen their belongs,I started to cry.
I missed them so much. Familiar smells that was always in my grandmas bathroom
The products and hair curlers that she used flooded my mind and heart with memories
of when I was a child, and used to spend the night with her.
I entered her and grandpaws bedroom and I dared to open her dresser drawers
Something forbidden crossed my consience. I felt as though I was invading her
privacy. But back to reality, I knew she was gone. The material things of this world that
she cherished, and kept locked away in those drawers were detached now.
I opened a drawer and everything was as she left it. Untouched, and I was afraid
to move anything by picking it up.
This thought made me weep profusely. The drawer in that dresser was alive
with her own personal touch and privacy of keepsakes.
I found a broach with diamond rhinestones on it. It was shape like a leaf.
I knew that this personal piece of jewelry must have had great sentimental
value to be placed so delicately on top of her lingere.
It's amazing how something as simple as a sponge roller or a or cheap flowery
air freshener can connect the depths of the heart to the mind.
I then found a box with a hinged lid on it. I went to pick it up and
the lid came open and all the contents kind if fell out. Half in the box
and half falling out onto the floor.
I was so intrigued and amazed at all the "treasures" my eyes could behold.
All kinds of jewelry and jeweled hair pins were laying at my feet.
I thought about taking just one thing in rememberance of my grandmother
so I would have a keepsake.
Then I had second thoughts. What if when my aunts and uncles went thru
her belongings to seperate and divide, and realized the one thing I wanted
was gone.
So in remorse and guilt I put it back.
The rest of my dream I went through the house looking at everything and
making new discoveries.
At each new find I learned a little more about my grandparents that I didn't
realize why they were still alive.
I noticed the little things, like the way they stacked things.
Stored things.
Everything I seen and encountered, all the smells and the way my grandmaw
arranged her house was in my memory and in my heart.
But was also a part of [my ]very soul. It was who they were but it was
also who I am. The part of me I miss, when I miss them.
