To Be Heroes

Off to save the world
to be heroes, to be brave
we live our lives everyday to train
the world is in danger
only the U.S. can help
We deploy to far lands
with our tanks and guns
We shall make you free
our leaders shout as we over run
the bullets they fly
and the bombs do burst
could this be democracy at its worst
the pain and the agony
of our brothers in arms
the death and destruction
of the a foreign land
bodies lay all around
children crying the last heard sound
our memories and dreams forever scarred
the mental shrapnel forever at large
we scream in our sleep
they give us drugs
why cant this be healed with a simple hug
off to save ourselves
we are heroes, were brave
we live our lives everyday
trying to cover the shame
