“THE CATERPILLAR AND THE BUTTERFLY PART 2" The ugly caterpillar we all now know as war Hurls its way into our lives, leaving us brokenhearted and sore Creeps its way into the hearts of so many who are too blind To see war’s not the answer to peace for all mankind The beautiful butterfly will guide us if we want to see the light Lead us to the world of rainbows if we open our eyes to what’s right Its wings will carry us away from a world of pain and destruction Healing everything the caterpillar demolished into a rapturous construction The ugly caterpillar will wage war with the illustrious butterfly For all it wants from us is misery until the day we die The caterpillar wants the world to believe that peace cannot be obtained Yearns for everyone’s lives to be consumed with disgust and disdain Still the butterfly spreads its wings and urges us to follow our heart Sends the signal to us all that warring is not a start The butterfly tells us that to achieve the peace and harmony we seek Is by laying down our guns and becoming stronger and not so meek But the ugly caterpillar yearns for nothing more than war and death Is hell bent and determined to put our faith to the test The caterpillar’s loathing is spread like a disease Doesn’t want the world to know of everlasting peace The butterfly spreads love and contentment to anyone wanting it badly enough Prompts mankind to keep the faith when the going gets tough Upon its beauteous wings is where the world will find faith Where unhappiness and useless warring will be forever erased Sherri L.
