Camila and Arick go to see a mage and find out everything and more.
Chap.6-the mage

I wake up expecting to be in my room, but then I remember what happened yesterday.I get sad all over again. As I sit up, I can feel the wound is still sore, but it dosen't feel as bad as it did. I walk out of my room looking for Arick. When I reach the front room, I see him talking to that tall guy I ment the first time I came here.

"Oh, your up. We were just talking about you." says Arick.

"Yeah. It's a good thing you left the palace before any of that happened." says the tall guy. "You know, I just realized something. You haven't told us what your name is yet." he says.

"My name is Fiona." I say. I can't tell them my real name. That would just cause more chaos.

"Nice name. The name's Landers." says the tall guy.

Arick looks at me. "You said something about a curse, didn't you Fiona?" he says.

I nod.

"There's a mage at the end of town who knows about stuff like that. Would you like to go see her?" asks Arick.

"Sure. It's worth a try." I say.

"Well, if you two are going to go do that, I guess I should stay here and watch the place. Those guards are still after you about what happened yesterday. " says Landers.

"Good idea. We shouldn't be long." says Arick as we walk out.

We take an overgrown path. "Um...why are we going this way?" I ask Arick.

"I'm a thief, remember?" he says smiling. "I've got to keep a low profile. I can't be seen or heard. If the wrong person sees me, then I could end up in the dungeon." he says.

I smile sheepishly. "I should have known that." I say.

He pulls back the final bush and in front of us is an old cottage. It has a small stone bridge across a small creek leading to the house itself, and a lot of stray cats.

"Well, let's go inside." says Arick. He opens the door for me. We walk in and see the mage reading a huge book.

"I knew you would come." says the mage, not taking her eyes off the book in front of her. She has long white hair, and you can't really see her eyes. She appears to be really short. She finally looks up at us after awhile. "I can see it in you. Your anxious and confused too. You want to know what you uncle means?" she asks.

I nod my head. "Yes. I want to know what curse he speaks of." I say.

She nods as she stands up. "He speaks of the Curse of Distant Love. A long time ago, two of your ancestors fell in love. But there was a problem with this. The woman Livana was royalty. She was already engaged to a nobleman. He was consumed by darkness, and practiced dark magics. He was also greedy. He only proposed to her because of the family riches. Livana knew of this and shunned him. He didn't like this, so he said cruel things about her and her family. He even told her that the only reason he was there was to gain the riches and rule all of Querick. One day, Livana decided that she didn't want to deal with it anymore, so she fled off. While she was gone, she ment a commoner named Neal, and soon Livana and Neal fell in love. They kept their relationship a secret for a long time until it slipped and the nobleman found out. He was enraged and cursed both of them in his jealously making it so Livana would live forever while Neal would die an early and tragic death. And that is what happened. Livana still lives on." says the mage.

"But this wouldn't affect Fiona would it?" asks Arick.

"I don't know. It depends on the path "Fiona" takes." says the mage smiling.

"Well that answers the question about the curse, I guess..." says Arick a little unsure looking.

"That is all I have to say, and that is all I will tell you." says the Mage.

"Alright then. Let's go Fiona." says Arick.

"Wait for me outside, Arick. I still have something to ask her." I say to him.

Arick nods and walks out.

"You know I'm Camila, don't you?" I ask the mage.

She laughs. "Why of course I do. The question is do you know who I am?" asks the mage.

I eye her closley. She dosen't resemble anyone I know.

"I am Livana. I am the one who lives day by day tormented by the loss of Neal. I can never be with him either, for I live for eternity." she says.

Everything my uncle said is starting to make more and more sense.Question is why would he go so far as to try and kill me? "Isn't there a cure for the curse?" I ask Livana.

"I've heard that there is. I searched for fifty years however and never found it, so I gave up." she says.

"If he did the curse, i'm sure there is a cure." I say hopefully.

Livana is scilent for a bit. "Your friend is waiting Camila. I think you should go to him." she finally says.

"But you still-"

"I have no more to say. I think you should leave now." she says.

There's no use in trying to make her tell me anymore. I walk out, still a little shocked about what Livana just told me. What she's telling me is that I am cursed in the same way as she is? If so, then I want to find the cure for this curse, for both of us, so I won't have to worry about it, and so she can be reunited with Neal.
