I wrote this before my own dad died, not knowing the that I'll be one of them so soon.
Remembrance...

Today, more than ever
You must feel sad and alone,
Because maybe sometime in your life,
You had a pair of big strong hands,
Picking you up and putting you on his lap,
And now it’s just a memory,
One you might want to forget,
Because if you can’t remember having something,
You cannot miss it.

But today I ask you to remember;
His beard tickling your nose
When he kissed you good night,
His firm voice
When you did something wrong,
His gentleness when you went to him crying...

Yes, it hurts,
But it’s better to remember,
Than to forget all together.

How can you want to forget,
A love that surrounded you
And still does!
For a father’s love never dies.
