A Poem about how the roles we play in life can be our undoing |
The ballerina twirls her way across the stage The audience rises to applaud The stagehands lower down a glass cage The dancer slides gracefully into her place The crowd cheers wildly The director motions for her to show her face The actress waves as the glass cage rose The spectators wait expectantly The backstsage staff....suddenly froze The girl looks down from her position in the air The people hold their breath The workers know she is stuck up there Twirling...swirling...the cage sways high above A blanket of silence gently falls A handkerchief escapes, floating down like a dove The girl moves forward to touch the glass The people hold their breath The workers try to hold the heavy wire fast The actress gives a gentle and noble bow The spectators wait expectantly The backstage staff wonder what to do now The dancer throws a kiss to those below The crowd cheers wildly The director wonders how to end the deadly show The ballerina gracefully twirls around and around The audience rises to applaud The stagehands watch the cage crash to the ground ....and so....the twirling ends..... |
