Historical conversation between a wyvern, a dragon, and, of course, a unicorn
[For those of you who do not know, a wyvern is a dragon without the front legs and more snake-like.]

“Ha ha, look at him go at it,” the unicorn said to the wyvern, unable to keep the amusement out of her voice.

The wyvern laughed uproariously. The dragon chuckled at the statement, too.

“I pity him a bit,” the dragon added once their sounds of merriment had subsided some. “He’s obviously demented. Needs that kind of therapy, if you know what I mean....”

Another round of snickering.

“You know who I pity?” the wyvern interjected. He waited for the inevitable chorus of ‘Who?’ before continuing. “His sons and their wives, since he managed to convince them, too.”

They all chortled again, the dragon’s bass voice mingling with the wyvern’s breathy laugh and the unicorn’s pawing of the sandy ground.

“I mean,” the unicorn mocked, “what’s the point? Who uses ships here, of all places?” She gestured at the vast sea of sand, the endless desert.

“No, no,” the dragon corrected scoffingly. “He says it’s an ‘ark’.” He cracked up.

“What was his name again?” the wyvern queried.

The other two suddenly grew thoughtful, obviously searching for it in their mental libraries. “I don’t remember...,” the dragon mumbled.

A pause.

“I know!” The wyvern and the dragon looked at the unicorn. “I think it’s... Noah. That’s it,” she finished proudly.

The others nodded. “Doesn’t even look like it’s going to rain,” the wyvern commented.

And then, the heavens broke open.
