After I kissed the first girl I ever fell for
I Used to be a Good Kisser
**"I will be God when it comes to you," - Langston Hughes**

If memory serves, once upon a time
The skill was practiced, perfected and mine
But now I could not fathom why or how
Or even take the most humble bow
For actions acted out in my prime
Yes, I remember a young boy so bold
But now that passion has grown cold
Forgotten winter winds whip through porches
Where tenderness flickered, burned as torches
A second between goodbye and goodnight
Could last forever in pools of lamplight
Unhurried, inviting and intimate
So that every secure sentiment
Is being mouthed and expressed, if only
In the softness and length of embrace
Of how your lips taste so swiftly erase
Every single year of being lonely....

Confess to me, lest arousal smoulders
Two smooth arms adjust about my shoulders
A moment more of youthful exploring
Desire mixed with despair, abhoring
Because I know I'll have to let you go
Fate has flaunted all I've ever wanted
Of your flawless mouth I will be haunted
The second I have to let you go...

I've enjoyed being joined with you like this
But maybe this was not meant to be
That passion now a frozen memory
Of the way we used to kiss
