I WISH

As you lay there and dream,

I notice a smile curled up at the edge of your lip.

Propped up on your side,

I stare at that curve and I'm drawn by the slope of your hip.

You roll over and stretch as I gaze at your hair,

spilled out where you're resting your head.

My heart overflows and I notice a tear,

it falls and dampens my bed.

I look down upon you and study your face,

as it glows in the glistening moon light.

My heart sings a song as I ask a prayer,

Oh I wish I could see this each night.
