Oseary has woken in a dark room in Bratislava, why is here?
Scene opens with darkness that gets gradually brighter; the first thing we see are the outlines of features of the room; the room is completely dark with the shutters closed; a tiny beam of light shines through but apart from that there is no light. We see the back of Oseary who is rocking backwards and forwards on the bed; he is a well built man who wears a white singlet, black slack trousers and white socks; the room is bare with no wall paper; a bed against the far wall in the centre; a chair stands in the lower right hand corner; there is a chest of draws against the left wall and a door right next to it; on the chair is a backpack.

Camera swings around to Oseary is talking to himself; his voice begins to sound

Oseary:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. I remember those days, 24 hours in and out. Get it done spic and span. Room facing west direct below.

He gets up and starts to pace about

Oseary:
Names, people have names, birth and Christian. But what are the missing names I ask, I don’t know, where am I? Bratislava, that’s Slovakia, that’s Eastern Europe the dead capital of the world, I was here on business, no pleasure hey maybe both!

He goes to the window and opens it up; a bright light shines through; it blinds him but he can’t bring himself away; the light shines brighter than before; things start to fall into place and this time Oseary finds himself in another room which has a wine red color to it and has a chair direct in the middle, he sees a man again the far wall who wears a long white coat with black trousers; he has a cigarette placed between his lips and he is about to light it; the man turns to face him and begins to talk to him

McLaren:
So tell me, what is the first of the instructions that I gave you
Oseary:
Enter the room at the top, get the briefcase out in the corner, open it and use what is inside
McLaren;
Good and what happens when the job is done?
Oseary:
I get out of there Un-sighted and go to a small café on the corner two streets away and await further instruction.
McLaren;
You listen good. Now listen again, what you do today will be more important that any other, I have told you why and you know that I don’t stand for a job not being executed. Don’t fuck about boy, like I said this a family and I’m the overbearing stepfather.

The man gives Oseary and cigar and pats him on shoulder

McLaren:
Do it right there’ll be a never ending supply

The man exits through a door.
Oseary pulls himself away from the window, he is back in the room where he was before; the sits on the bed once more

Oseary:
The building, job, what does this mean? Was I doing a deal, no that can’t be it. Which city, country, district, town, time, minutes, second? What the fuck is happening?

He gets up and this time looks at the tiny beam of light that shines through the shutters; again things begin to change because this time he is walking down a street with a women; she is a bit shorter than him with dark hair and a trim figure; they are in deep conversation

Nat:
Erin acted she’s known me my entire life! I mean she can’t even get my surname right on her good days

Oseary:
Don’t worry darling, you worry to much, I sure management will see that she is incapable of doing a good job and thing will work out
Nat;
God I hope so. So tell me what this trip to Europe that you have to take
Oseary:
Oh I have to go to Bratislava and do something for my boss
Nat:
Where’s that?
Oseary:
Slovakia I think?
Nat:
Wow your geography’s good! Tell me is a surprise, because it must be if you don’t what your doing
Oseary:
I just hope there not some corrupt businessman who doesn’t file taxes and claims that his company is in violation of Code 46
Nat:
Let’s hope, which reminds me I have something to tell you

Nat starts telling him but Oseary looks over the street and notices a mysterious figure standing by a lamp-post looking directly at him; as he walks on the mans head follows him; Oseary and Nat approach a road; she shakes him

Nat:
Hey are you even listening?
Oseary:
What?

All of a sudden a car screech to a halt right behind them; they both flinch and take a moment to realise what happened; the driver of the car looks angry

Driver:
What’s wrong with you? Are you blind or something?
Oseary:
Sorry sir
Driver:
Go to an opticians stupid!
Nat:
Alright, alright sorry

The two walk away; the car roars past and turns the corner; Oseary looks around but the mysterious figure is gone.

Oseary opens his eyes and again he is back in the room he was before

Oseary:
Who was she? Did she have my heart? I wish she did. Such a face, not the best poetry could sum it up; why do I think of her? Was she my wife, fiance, girlfriend or none of the above?

He gets up and sits on the chair in his room staring into space

Oseary:
Why I am here? Of all the places on earth did I end up in this ramshackled room? Is this my illusion or some sadistic reality? The answers, that what I seek, but where to get to get it

Oseary looks over to his bag and goes over to it; he begins to search through it and finds only one thing; a blue note book; he looks at the first page which reads only one word ‘McLaren’; Oseary looks puzzled

Oseary:
McLaren? Such a word I have never heard, is he my father, my brother or a insignificant factor? McLaren, I sure I have heard that somewhere

The beam of light again shines in Oseary eyes blinding him; when he opens them he is again in a room different to the one that he reckonises; this room is more wide with grey walls and an open window; a single lamps shines in the background; Oseary walks towards the far left corner; there is a briefcase there which he picks up; he puts it on the ground and opens it; inside there is different pieces of a sniper-rifle which he assembles fitting the sight last; he kneels before the window and looks through the sight; camera switches to sight POV and we see a black car pull up at the across the road; a door opens a figure steps out; Oseary’s fingers is against the trigger; the figure begins to walk along the street; Oseary looks up from the sight almost contemplating not shooting

Suddenly Oseary’s eyes reopen and he is back where he was but this time he is lying face down on the floor; he pulls himself up and beginnings to breath

Oseary:
That room, the person, the rifle, was I gonna kill someone? Wait was the same building?

Again he picks up the Blue notebook which on the bed and turns to the next page which again has only a single word on it ‘Nat’. As he reads the beam of light shines in his eyes once more

Oseary:
What the fuck now?

We see the light shine again but this time when things fall into place we see Nat’s face which appears to be in pain; camera pulls away and it reveals Oseary strangling her; they are lying on the ground

Oseary;
Why did you look? Why?
Nat tries to speak but her cries are drown by Oseary grip

Oseary:
You knew I could let do that! You can’t know who I am, you just can’t

Nat;
Please
Oseary:
Shut up!
Nat:
It doesn’t have to be this way
Oseary:
I’m sorry

He continues strangling her until we hear a croak to symbolise that she is dead; Oseary pulls away and sits down; he looks in a state of confusion; over by him is a file which has spilled open; right next to lies a photo which has been turned upside down; Oseary reaches over to look at it but as he does everything goes white

Again Oseary opens his eye and this time he sitting in the chair in the far end of the room; he immediately springs up

Oseary:
No! This can’t be! Why? Is this your way of punishing me

He looks up and starts yelling at the ceiling

Oseary:
What is happening? Answer me! who was I? Did I love her

Oseary kneels to the floor and begins to cry

Oseary:
I think I loved her, I don’t how but I felt it down in my soul. Was that real? Or was it something I made up? Are these visions mine or did you give them to me? If they have meaning then I need to know, please

He drops on to his bed and begins to sleep; this time we go to his Pov and again thing begin to fall into place; this time he is standing in some kind of shop; in front of him stands another man who is talking a mile a minute; the man has blond hair and wears and black suit; Oseary holds a cup of coffee in his hand

Evan:
It started as fun but now it way more
Oseary:
How do you mean?
Evan:
Take a guess!
Oseary:
What have you done Evan?
Evan:
I didn’t mean for to happen this way! Look I level with you I’ve been seeing this girl more and more
Oseary:
Which girl?

Evan leans forward and whispers something in his ear; camera goes out and we see the two of them through shop window; Evan is telling Oseary something but we can’t hear it

Oseary:
Not her! Dear god man
Evan:
I know he won’t be happy
Oseary:
Won’t be happy, shit he’ll kill you dead literally!!
Evan:
Shut up man! I don’t need this
Oseary:
Well your going to have it
Evan:
What shall I do?
Oseary:
I tell you

Just as he is about to speak everything goes black

Oseary wakes with a start; he has sweat glistening from his forehead

Oseary;
Evan.. Why do I dream of him? Was that another dream or reality? I must of trusted him, I could tell, that style of speech is something no other person uses
(Long Pause)
Oseary:
This room what is it for?
Jup:
You should know that
Oseary spins round to reveal the angel like figure sitting in his chair; he has black hair and hair a long black coat

Oseary:
Who are you? Why are you with me?

The angel figure doesn’t ask but stares at Oseary almost studying him

Oseary:
I’ll ask again why are you here
Jup:
You tell me
Oseary:
I don’t know my mind doesn’t give clues
Jup:
Your mind can deceive you, don’t trust it
Oseary:
It’s the only thing I have
Jup:
Tell me why when you open the window, do you only see brightness
Oseary:
What?
Jup:
Do you see bright light?
Oseary:
Yeah
Jup:
Then you are nearly ready!
Oseary:
Who are you?
Jup:
My name’s Jup
Oseary:
Why are you here?
Jup:
To be a friend
Oseary:
If your that tell me what the fuck’s wrong with my memories?
Jup:
That’s is one thing that your mind must do itself
Oseary:
It don’t get this, tell me what’s going on!
Jup:
You will understand.. Soon

Jup stands and heads toward the door which he opens

Oseary:
Wait!

The door closes and Oseary is unable to open it; he slams his fist against the door in a fit of rage; he sees his notebook lying on the floor; he goes over and opens it again to the first page and he looks at the word ‘McLaren’ again

Oseary:
McLaren, McLaren, Mac.. Wait Mac.. Mr Mac
The beam of light shines in his eyes again and this time he is the room with the man he first saw but this time he is standing over him

McLaren:
I know this is hard but frankly I don’t care

He hands him a photo; Oseary holds it up to his face; the photo is of Evan!

McLaren:
He’s your partner, but you chose me and you came to me, so that means it’s your job.
Oseary:
I understand Mr Mac sir
McLaren:
Good lad, that’ll teach him. Here are your instructions numero uno you are to go to the top floor

As McLaren starts to speak everything goes white and again we are back in the room

Oseary:
Mac, he must have been… yes must have. The father figure I never had, my boss, I’m a sinner, will god forgive me? Evan

Oseary flicks to the next page which again has a the single word ‘Nat’

Oseary:
Why her? What drove me to this?

Oseary goes to the window peers through the cracks and once more everything is white; the audience see Nat reading through a file that is on the table; as she reads she is shocked; Oseary comes in and shouts

Oseary:
NO!!
Nat:
You bastard.. all this time you’ve been this
Oseary:
Give that here you don’t know what goes on
Nat:
Yeah how many? 50? 100? 150,000?
Oseary:
I can’t let you see this anymore
Nat:
He’s your friend, you gonna let him die like this
Oseary:
He betrayed vital trust
Nat:
Trust.. bullshit do you what that means. I’m going to the cops

She goes to leave but Oseary stops her exiting

Oseary:
You know I can’t do that
Nat:
Move
Oseary
Give me that or things will happen

Again she goes to leave but this time Oseary grabs her and pushes the file out of her hands; she tries to break free but he throw her down and begins to strangle her; again everything begins to go white

Again as the focus comes back Oseary is again on the floor crying; in the background we hear a thump on the door and a voice that sounds like McLaren’s

McLaren:
Come out you little shit.. I know you’re here!

Suddenly the door bursts open and McLaren bursts in; in his hand he holds a gun; Oseary backs against the far wall

Oseary:
I can explain!
McLaren:
Please do so, I want to know why your friend is run around Bratislava spending my money!
Oseary:
I don’t know sir.. my second conscience came over me
McLaren:
Then tell the voices to get lost
Oseary:
He was..
McLaren:
I don’t care if he was your Granddad, you knew what had to be done
Oseary:
I won’t let you down again sir
McLaren:
I need men of will, not promises

He hold the gun up and we hear a gunshot; camera cuts to a shot of Oseary opening his eyes; he springs back in surprises and feels all over his body for the bullet; it takes a second for him to realise it wasn’t real

Oseary:
I was a failure, all because of a friend. I could have been something else.. but I wasn’t.

An image flickers briefly of Evan getting into a car and speeding off; Oseary looks up from his eyesight and gets up; he looks out the window for a time but eventually turns and heads out

Oseary:
Jup was right I would understand. This room.. it’s my room. Mac made sure of that.
Questions, I had them and they were answered.

He looks to the ceiling

Oseary:
I’m ready now.. my new journey. Nat

He smiles slightly in memory of this

Oseary:
The facts of life!

For the final time he goes to the shutters and slowly opens them, again the whole room fills with Ultra Bright light; Camera cuts to a shot of Oseary’s Back with the light shining in
