Alone in the Wild
I wander through this dark, murky forest,
Unaware of what will become of me.
I hear a hoot of an owl, distant in a tree.
The chirp of crickets at my feet feel my presence.
Birds in their nests come out for a glimpse of me:
“Who is this strange being to walk our lands?”
Must I be in some tranquil part of the world,
I have yet to seen in my years of life?
My heart beats yet faster, still I panic.
A sense of aloneness and isolation bewilders me.
Fear rushes through my veins,
Intoxicating my brain with gruesome thoughts
I have yet to think ever in my wildest dreams.
Someone or something creeps up on me.
On my feet, I turn, eyes wide with fear
The look in the beast’s eyes is craving and annoyance.
I feel waves of hatred in the midst of it all.
A growl escapes it’s mouth, loud and wild
It tramples over me, I am pathetic and frail
