Reaction to a news item in Mombassa on "indecent" women's attire
MOMBASSA MISCHIEF!

Report by the BBC dated 29th February 2004

Mombassa’s streets are all abuzz
with a rumour that’s causing an awful fuss.
Last week two ladies were stripped to the skin
‘cause the clothing they wore was considered a sin.
The word on the street, from those in the know
is that hipsters and minis will have to go.
By the first of March, it was implied,
that such items of fashion should be set aside.
The government said “It just isn’t true.
The way that you dress is up to you.
We are democratic, we will not dictate.
Your dress code is not an Affair of State”.
It is not the first time that women’s attire
has provoked rumour, mischief and ire.
So where does it come from, this frustration and angst?
The answer lies firmly inside the men’s pants!
