Dragonball Z Garlic Jr Saga

The Garlic Jr. saga starts off with a small bit of carnage. The evil little man himself is destroying a small village, and mercilessly killing a family. He and his four minions are laughing manically as they do so.

Gohan is racing a saber-toothed tiger, and winning, having great fun as he runs along. He stops just before a dead end, but the tiger can’t, and goes straight into it. Gohan then runs off, and jumps off a cliff, into some water, after stripping off to his underwear during the descent. He swims along playfully for a while, then starts to throw fishes out of the water, for his dinner. After he has piled a job load up, he goes to climb out of the water. A familiar figure greets him, in the form of Krillen, wearing a white suit. Gohan invites him in, but Krillen tells him that he has a car at the top of the hill, and he doesn’t want to get his clothes wet. Gohan talks him into having a quick dip though, and the two race off to the water. Before Krillen can dive in though, a voice shouts out to him. It is that of a woman. Krillen stops dead in his tracks, and turns round. From out of the car comes a woman who looks a little like Bulma. Her name is Marron. She tells Krillen to hurry up, and to get back in the car. Krillen says bye to Gohan, and informs him that there is a party at Roshi’s house later on. Gohan doesn’t know whether Chi-Chi will let him go, but he appreciates the offer none-the-less. Krillen walks up to the hill, and drives off with Marron. It takes Gohan a while, but he finally works out that Krillen has got a girlfriend!

Meanwhile, Kami has gone to speak with Piccolo, who is training against forms of himself. He goes back into one, and turns to Kami. The old, watcher of Earth asks Piccolo to become the new God, but he refuses, saying that he isn’t interested in the job. Kami understands, and goes back up to his lookout.

At Kami’s tower, Mr Popo is idly watering the plants, when he is disturbed by a collection of individuals, who fly around, destroying all of the architecture of the lookout. Mr. Popo is scared out of his mind at this point, but a voice orders everyone to stop. Surprisingly, these minions listen to the voice, and then bow, going down to one knee as the voices origination walks through the archway. The voice came from a small, hooded Namek, who looks up at Mr Popo, and they both recognize each other immediately. This gives Mr Popo quite a shock, but it makes the little man laugh. Mr Popo points out that he is Garlic Jr., and that they thought they had imprisoned him forever. He then goes on to tell the story of how it happened (See the movie review of movie 1 for a detailed account of what happens). Garlic Jr. pressures Mr Popo into telling him where Kami is, but the assistant won’t give in, and tries to escape on his magic carpet. The minions are too fast though, and they shoot some sort of web at Popo, which freezes him. Garlic Jr explains about the webs paralyzing people upon touching them, then goes on to blast Mr Popo with some sort of energy ball, which shrinks him dramatically down to size. Garlic holds Mr Popo, who is entrapped within the energy, in his hand, laughing evilly. He then walks off.

At Master Roshi’s house, everyone is having fun, with Krillen introducing Marron. When asked if she is his girlfriend, he says ‘no’ modestly, which excited Marron. She asks Yamcha is he is free to go on a date some time soon, and he agrees. Bulma hears this conversation, and tells Yamcha off, but he insists that they were only joking. Marron says she was serious though, and Krillen becomes very upset.

Elsewhere, Gohan is asking his mom if he can go to the party, but she is firmly saying no to him, and telling him to go do his studies. He reluctantly walks off into his room, but then sneaks out of his window. He is upset at disobeying his mom, but he gets over it, and jumps on Icarus, a small flying bird thing, and goes off to Roshi’s island.

On the lookout tower, Kami appears, to see the destruction that had been done. He is gob smacked by it, and orders that whoever did this come out and show themselves. Garlic Jr. steps out, and after getting over the initial shock, Kami realizes that Garlic was the only one who could produce such destruction. Garlic goes on at Kami for a while, then attacks. Kami manages to fly high, trying to avoid the energy beams. They follow him though, and he barely manages to deflect them with an energy shield. Garlic soars into the air, and gives Kami a small beating with his fists. After commenting on Garlic’s improved speed, Kami manages to fight Garlic off, blasting him down to the ground. He then powers up a beam of energy in his hand, ready to finish him off, when the four minions all shoot the paralyze web at him. Kami can’t move, and Garlic Jr gets up, then launches the energy beam that traps them, and shrinks them. Kami is now just as small as Mr Popo is. Garlic Jr laughs, and then says that he will become the new watcher of Earth.

The minions and Garlic walk into a room, looking for some sort of bottle. It is found easily, and Garlic Jr opens it, releasing some sort of black cloud. It spreads across the room, then out of the lookout tower, into the air. Garlic explains that it brings out the evil heart in everyone on the Earth, which means that they will soon be attacking each other, and obeying him!

The cloud spreads over the land, shrouding everything in a purple mist. Seeing the mist, Gohan jerks Icarus around, and tries to outrun it, although it soon becomes obvious that they aren’t fast enough, as the cloud gets how on the their heels. Icarus spots a cave, and turns to go in there. It is very narrow, so Icarus first jerks to a halt, so that Gohan goes flying in, then floats away a little, as to get a run up. The bird then flies at full speed into the hole, getting stuck half way, but it’s ok, just got its legs sticking out. The mist passes, and the two of them climb out of the cave, down to the ground. Gohan goes to say hello to some of the animals. He walks up to them, and attempts to greet them, but they lunge at him, trying to attack him. He can’t work out what is wrong with them, as they surround him. Gohan is very scared, as is Icarus, but they manage to escape by flying off the side of the cliff. Wondering what was wrong with the animals, Gohan continues his journey to Master Roshi’s house.

Meanwhile, at Roshi’s house, they are messing around playfully, with Bulma making fun of Krillen for not being able to catch any fish, and Yamcha and Puar joining in with the laughing. Marron comes out, dressed in a stunning swimsuit, to play around with Krillen. That bald-headed former monk gets all embarrassed by this, but he is grateful of it all the same, as he apparently has a crush on her. The two swim around, playfully grabbing at each other and pulling one another under, but they have to duck sharply when a plane comes across, almost knocking Krillen out. It lands on Roshi’s island, and out walks a very angry Chi-Chi. She is on the warpath as she demands to know where Gohan is. No one knows, so she says that she’ll wait for him, calling everyone bad influences. Marron sticks up for them, calling Chi-Chi a grandma. This makes the wife of Goku angry as she powers up, and charges at Marron. She is held by the combined efforts of Bulma, Roshi and Yamcha though. Krillen quickly takes Marron over to the water, where she can escape from Chi-Chi. The two of them rush into the water, and duck under, in a hope to avoid Chi-Chi’s wrath for a little longer. They forget about her, and start playing underneath it. While they are underneath it though, a purple cloud spreads across the sea, and Roshi’s island. Chi-Chi is still struggling to get free so she can take on Marron, and she screams as the cloud comes towards her. It engulfs the four people there, and they are immersed in it.

Krillen and Marron pop up from underneath the water, to see that everyone has gone. Gohan arrives on the scene at this point, and says hello to the two. Krillen informs him that Chi-Chi is here, and this makes Gohan bow his head in shame, and worry. Krillen tells him that Chi-Chi is in a particularly bad mood at the moment too. Marron talks Krillen into taking the blame for Gohan though, and he can’t help but say yes, what with him fancying her and all. They get ready to go to Chi-Chi, who is in the house.

Meanwhile, at Kami’s lookout, Garlic Jr is talking to some sort of shrine, representing his father, and telling it that he will being him back with a wish from the dragonballs, so that he can rules the Earth. Kami also tells Mr. Popo that Garlic will summon the serpent warriors from the depths of hell, to take over the world for him.

THE MIST TAKES EFFECT....

Back at Roshi’s house, the gang are finally facing up to their punishment. Krillen explains to Chi-Chi that it was his fault that Gohan came, and he’s sorry. Chi-Chi has a mean look in her eyes though, and small fangs. She walks towards them like a zombie, and then slaps Gohan in the face, knocking him to the floor. The poor kid doesn’t understand what’s wrong, as Chi-Chi goes to attack again. She follows him all round the house, trying to hit him, until he eventually is forced to fight back, throwing Chi-Chi off the roof. He feels really guilty, but when he goes to check on her, she gets up, and swipes at him again. Krillen is having the same problem, but with Yamcha and Bulma. He narrowly avoids a kick from Yamcha, but is soon thrown through the wall of Roshi’s hut, near Gohan. Marron has Roshi himself to deal with, and tries to stop him by throwing everything he can at him. It doesn’t work though. He continues to advance. Krillen tells Gohan that something is wrong (DUH!) and that they have got to fight back. He runs at Roshi, and kicks him away from Marron, saving her. As it looks like the three have got some hope after all, four demon creatures land. They tell Gohan, Krillen and Marron that the purple cloud was what bought out the evil in their friends, which is why they are attacking them. They tell them (In true Bond style) that the only way to stop it is to get the sacred water from Kami’s lookout, where Garlic Jr is. Gohan remembers this name, and staggers back, pondering a way out of this situation. He decides to fight, threatening them to change his mother back, before running at them all. They all use an attack which paralyzes Gohan in mid air. It looks like it is over for the kid until a blast soars down, knocking all the demons back The demons are the minions of Garlic Jr that were seen earlier, that fact is clear now. The origination of the blast came from on top of Roshi’s hut. There stands Piccolo, his cape blowing in the wind. Gohan is delighted to finally see him again, as a wide grin spreads across his face. The minions recognize Piccolo, and tell him that Garlic Jr can kill Piccolo any time he wishes, as he has Kami held captive (If Kami dies, so does Piccolo, and vice versa). This shocks Piccolo slightly, but he keeps a cool look about him, as the minions circle him, along with all of the possessed good guys. It looks as if Gohan, Krillen, Marron and Piccolo are the only ones who haven’t been affected by this cloud. Piccolo gets ready to fight, as everyone surrounds him.

Piccolo asks how an idiot like Garlic Jr could have escaped from the dead zone, so Spice takes the liberty of explaining. A star came into alignment with the planets, but this star was a special star. When it was into the correct alignment, it lets all evil run amok over the universe, as it is at its strongest point when this happens. It happens only once every 1,200 years, which meant that this was Garlic Jr’s only chance to escape. He charged up to his full extent, and managed to shatter the dead zone which held him captive. After this, he went up to Kami’s, and assaulted him, imprisoning him in the bottle.

Gohan and Krillen look on curiously, as they see Piccolo preparing to fight the ones named ‘The Spice Boys’. He runs in, and goes to chop one, but the attack is easily dodged, as the defender appears behind him. Piccolo turns round, and prepares to go all out. Before he can attack again though, he is hit in the back by a blast. Standing behind him is Yamcha, giggling incessantly. Piccolo turns to him, and is forced to fight. He charges, at they exchange blows for a while with neither man able to get a shot in, until Piccolo kicks Yamcha to the ground. He states that the real Yamcha would have put up a far better challenge. The Namek turns to the ‘Spice Boys’, and prepares to attack once again, but for the second time, zombie Yamcha attacks him from behind, this time smashing him down to the sea, with Piccolo managing to stop himself just in time. Yamcha flies back onto the island, and gives an evil smile. Piccolo lowers his head, then goes down to join everyone on Kame’s island. He holds out his hand, and apologizes to everyone for what he is about to do. He charges up an energy blow, when two hands come from out of the ground and grab his heels. Gohan looks on in horror, wanting to do something, but knowing that he is helpless against them. Piccolo is rooted to the spot, as Yamcha runs in, and uses the fangs that he grew when turning evil, to bite Piccolo on the neck, rather like a vampire. He sinks his teeth in, with the Namek in great pain. Yamcha dives off after having a nibble, but Piccolo is still not down. He is standing there, weak from the attack, and powerless to do an awful lot. Two of the ‘Spice Boys’ appear behind Piccolo, and grabs his arms, so that he can’t move at all now. The other two come out of the ground, and start laughing. In dive all of the people who had turns evil on the island, to have themselves a snack on Piccolo’s neck. Piccolo screams out in pain as they all bite him, with Gohan running in. Piccolo orders him to stay back, and to go get the sacred water. Spice informs them that their friends will be permanently like this after 24 hours, and not even the sacred water will be able to save them after that. Gohan reluctantly flies off to Kami’s tower, with tears running down his eyes, as Piccolo’s pain intensifies. Krillen goes with him, and Icarus picks up Marron, who insists on going. They all head off to Kami’s tower.

Piccolo charges up as much as he can, delivering such a force, that everyone goes flying backwards. He collapses onto the floor, after using up all his energy.

The ‘Spice Boys’ start to talk about the effects of the bites, saying that the venom acted very quickly, and that Piccolo would soon be one of them. The bite from one of those zombies turn the others into zombies too. A short while after the conversation took place, Piccolo got up. He had that mad look in his eyes. It looks as if he has been possessed too!

Krillen and Gohan cautiously go into Karin’s tower, carefully treading, being as quiet as they can. They are worried that Karin may have inhaled the purple fog. Footsteps are heard, and Karin pops up. He greets them in his usual way, and everyone gives a sigh of relief. Yajirobe follows closely. Marron starts shouting and saying how cute Karin is. Yajirobe sees her, and asks who she is. When Gohan tells him that it is Krillen’s girlfriend, he flips. He starts blabbering on about how an ugly guy like Krillen doesn’t deserve a girlfriend. Karin reads Gohan and Krillen’s minds, and tells them that time is of the essence. Before he can say any more, the two young warriors are off, leaving Marron behind with the wise cat. Karin moans at him, then starts to get flustered when Marron strokes him.

THE SPICE BOYS VS. GOHAN AND KRILLEN

Krillen and Gohan land on Kami’s lookout, searching for Garlic Jr. He reveals himself from out of the shadows, and starts laughing manically. Gohan and Krillen know what they must do, and they charge at the little evil being. A blast is shot just in front of them though, and they jerk to a halt. Looking up, they can see Piccolo. Gohan is overjoyed at Piccolo being alive, and is about to go up to him when Krillen holds him back. He rightly says that Piccolo is different. The Namek has that look in his eyes, and is looking sinister, as he advances on the two of them. Gohan sees it too, and is confused on whether he should fight his best friend.

Piccolo isn’t required to fight just yet, and Spice holds him back, to prevent him from taking Gohan on just yet.

Garlic Jr walks up to Gohan, and starts to taunt him. He manages to anger him to the point where Gohan charges up, then charges at the little immortal symbol of evil. It appears as though Garlic Jr avoided it. The old Namek turns round (Yes, Garlic Jr is a Namek) and he walks past Gohan laughing. Once he steps past the kid, blood starts to come down his face. He wipes it off, and angrily tells his minions to beat him up a bit, but keep him alive so that Goku comes. He remembers what Gohan did to him before, and is slightly scared. He raises a throne from the floor, sits on it, and orders that the fight commences.

The one who steps forward to fight is a small, red Spice Boy. He decides that he will take on Gohan, and a tall demon, with horns decides to take on Krillen. This leaves the other two of the Spice Boys watching. Gohan looks at Piccolo, unable to understand what is wrong with him. The red Spice Boy tells Gohan to attack, but when he doesn’t, he does so himself. Gohan is caught out not concentrating, as he is slammed in the face, and knocked across Kami’s lookout. Gohan stops skidding right on the edge, looking badly hurt. Krillen runs over to him to help, but the demon taking him on easily catches him up, and hits him in the face, knocking him to the floor.

In Karin’s tower Marron is exercising, listening to a beat, and working hard. Yajirobe and Karin can’t believe how much she wants to exercise. She tells them both that they could do with losing a bit of weight themselves, making them go bright red. She wants something to eat, so the two of them dash down to the kitchen to make some grub. Yajirobe tells Karin that he doesn’t have a chance with her, as he fancies her, but Karin won’t listen. He finishes making the food, and runs up the stairs to give it to his guest.

Back on Kami’s lookout, Krillen is struggling badly. He tries to fight back, but his opponent is too fast (The demon with horns) and dodges every attack, before grabbing Krillen’s face, and constantly slamming it off his knee. Krillen falls down, in massive amounts of pain. He struggles to his feet, able to see Gohan getting up too. Gohan is knocked right down though, then stamped on multiple times by the red guy. Gohan is hurt seriously now, and he is having major trouble getting up. He eventually makes it to his feet, staggering a bit, with his back to his opponent. the red guy fires up an energy blast, and shoots it at Gohan. Using incredible speed, Krillen gets in the way. The red guy is surprised by this, so he fires a multitude of shots at him, with such intensity that the bald guys clothes are ripped right off. As soon as the blasts finish, Krillen drops to the floor, telling Gohan to beat them all for him, Chi-Chi, and Piccolo. The Spice Boys make a big mistake by laughing at Gohan, and taunting him. This only frustrates, and angers him. After a short while, Gohan looks up to them, with a look of hatred in his eyes. The aura around him is absolutely huge as he slowly advances on his enemies. They know that they can’t take him on individually, so they try to get their partner to go first, but in the end, they agree to double team. Forming a huge, purple ball of energy between them, they fire the blast at Gohan, with an enormous explosion occurring on impact. It fills the whole of Kami’s beautiful lookout, leaving only a small spot behind Gohan, where Krillen lies. The bald-headed former monk looks up, and thinks that it is all over. As the smoke clears, a massive smile forms across his face. Gohan is in a blocking pose, breathing heavily. Gohan looks up, and floats into the air. Giving an angry shout, he fires down a Masenko at the red Spice Boy, killing him easily. He then turns to the Demon, and gives him a blast too, destroying him also. Gohan then powers up even further, and flies over to Garlic Jr. He charges up a Masenko, and is about to blast his enemy with it, when Garlic Jr pulls out a small glass container, with Kami trapped inside. Reluctantly, Gohan gets rid of his energy and stands down.

FRIEND VS. FRIEND

One of Garlic’s minions offers to take on Gohan, and Spice tells him to save some, so that he can have a play. The Spice Boy walks forward, but Spice, the small groups leader, can’t hold onto Piccolo any more, and accidentally lets go. The Namek walks forward, and stands face to face with Gohan. The kid looks up at his trainer and best friend, and powers down, looking helpless. Gohan says Piccolo’s name, but is greeted only with a mammoth uppercut to the jaw, sending him back flipping onto the floor. Garlic Jr laughs, as do his followers, as Gohan hits the concrete slabs of Kami’s lookout. He gets up, but doesn’t want to fight his friend. He is clear that this isn’t the real Piccolo though, as there is drool coming from his mouth, and evil purple eyes glinting in the sun. Piccolo gives off a little roar, and wraps his hands round Gohan’s neck, preparing to choke him out. Despite Gohan’s pleads, Piccolo continues to apply the pressure.

On another planet, Vegeta lands, and he is hard at work, putting all his energy into training to become a super saiyan. He lets off a great blast, which destroys the majority of the planet surface, as he wonders why he can’t do what his arch rival ‘Kakarot’ did. After his blast had been fired, he sees rocks heading his way. After shielding himself from the first few, he senses a huge power, and sees another planet, where the rocks are coming from. He quickly flies over, thinking that Goku is there. He sees a figure shooting rocks out of the planets atmosphere, with a golden aura around him. Vegeta assumes it must be Goku, due to the appearance and power level, so he swoops down to try to learn the secret from him. He is about to get there, when an absolutely epic rock appears. Vegeta has to come to a halt to be able to do anything about it, so he stops, and fires a KI blast, destroying the rock easily. He then flies down to the ground where he thought Goku was, but he had gone. Vegeta seems to realize something though, and claims that he will soon be a super saiyan, as he now knows the secret.

Piccolo relentlessly continues the punishment on Gohan, using his superior speed to get the better of the kid. The Namek keeps on putting a beating on Gohan by using kicks, punches and axehandle smashes. Gohan is attacked to such an extent that he is unable to block properly anymore, as he gets thrown around the place. Krillen is somehow getting up, covered in bruises, and he quickly runs up to a pillar, and hides behind it, as Garlic Jr patiently watches the fight. Krillen sees the bottle with Kami in, and makes a run to try to get it, but Garlic Jr is protected by some kind of force field, which sends Krillen flying back, holding his body. Garlic laughs at Krillen’s futile efforts and walks towards him. He holds out his hand to blast him, and starts to build up energy as Krillen struggles to his feet.

Meanwhile, Piccolo is strangling Gohan, holding him up against a pillar, and choking the life out of him. Gohan is fast getting angry now, but Piccolo just wont stop. After a short while, Gohan sees that Krillen is about to be blasted, and uses a massive force to blow Piccolo off him, into the path of the fire.

Krillen gets to his feet just as Garlic Jr releases his energy ball. Piccolo goes shooting in front of it, and takes the blast. Krillen is grateful towards Gohan for knocking Piccolo in front of the energy. Gohan thinks that he is finished, and walks up to him. Garlic Jr is eager to see what happens, as the kid steps towards him. Piccolo starts to shake a little, but Gohan thinks that he is cured. He walks up to him, and Piccolo gets to his feet. The saiyan is overjoyed at Piccolo still being alive after that epic blast. Krillen sees what is happening, and runs towards Gohan, pushing him out of the way after seeing Piccolo charge. Gohan hits the floor hard, but Piccolo grabs Krillen, and decides to take him out now, so he can’t get in the way anymore. Piccolo lifts Krillen up by his arms, facing outwards, and starts to squeeze. Gohan pleads with him to stop, but Piccolo carries on. He then starts to sink his teeth into Krillen’s neck, to make him one of them. Gohan has given up pleading, and is now ordering Piccolo to stop. After two warning, and Krillen passing out after the bite, Piccolo throws him to the floor, and turns to Gohan. The saiyan kid runs to Krillen to find out if he is ok, and starts shaking him to try and revive him. He is unsuccessful though, and Krillen can’t move. It looks like it is all up to Gohan now.

Sensing a large power, Gohan quickly turns round, to see Piccolo throwing a powerful ball of energy at him. He tries to use his own attack to block it, but his energy is just eaten up by Piccolo’s, which continues to travel towards him. Gohan manages to block it with his hands, but is struggling to keep it away from him, as his arms are straightened out, and shaking under the extreme pressure of Piccolo’s beam. A bit more power is put into it by the Namek, and Gohan is driven backwards, getting himself put through a wall, then crashing into a pillar, as he continues to block the intense energy. After a while, Gohan focus’s a great amount of his power on the energy that he is struggling to maintain in blocking, and he barely manages to direct it skywards away from him. A gigantic explosion proceeds as Gohan pants, out of breath from all of the physical force that he put into surviving that blast.

At Karin’s tower, Marron, Yajirobe, and the wise cat himself are playing poker. Marron is easily winning, and Yajirobe has had to start forfeiting his clothes, as he is only wearing pants. Karin no longer has his walking stick, and literally half of the things on the whole tower are in a pile next to Marron, signaling her winnings. Yajirobe asks Karin why he isn’t reading her mind, and he is told that Marron doesn’t even have one though in her head, which is why there is nothing to read. They carry on playing, and Marron loses yet again. Karin is tricking her into thinking that regular items will help get her into heaven, as he has nothing left that is worth betting. The game goes on, as the fight on top of Kami’s lookout continues….

Gohan takes a rest against the pillar, incessantly looking for Piccolo. Eventually, he spots a shady figure charging through the darkness. The figure seems to disappear, but Gohan sensed something come next to him, and when he turns round, he is met with a fist to the face from Piccolo, sending him soaring through the air. Piccolo then catches up with him, and starts hammering away at him in the stomach, destroying him. Gohan is flung to the floor, but he manages to get up, relatively unscathed. Gohan runs at Piccolo, but again gets his head kicked in, and is sent through another wall. Gohan is irate now, and when Piccolo charges at him, he manages to block all of the punches, but the final one had such force that it sent him through yet another wall. Again though, Gohan gets up, still full of energy. Piccolo runs at him, but Gohan blocks a few, and launches himself into the Nameks stomach. Piccolo is temporarily dazed by this, but he recovers quickly, and grabs hold of Gohan, throwing him into the air, then hammering him back to the ground. Gohan is up again though, and Piccolo is starting to struggle. He resorts to a special move, where he splits up into three. At first, Gohan is scared by this, but when Piccolo charges, he manages to block most of the punches. Gohan kept blocking two of the Piccolo’s, but the third one kept on getting the shot on him when he couldn’t defend himself. Gohan was sent through the ceiling after a bit of this happening, and he landed near Garlic Jr. He was on the floor, and was getting taunted by Garlic. He struggled to his hands and knees, and looked up. He saw Krillen! But Krillen was looking different after that bite he received off Piccolo. He kicked Gohan in the face, sending him across the floor. Just then, Piccolo burst through the door. Garlic tells his minions to finish Gohan off, but Piccolo and Krillen get there first, and continue to lay down the punishment on Gohan by hitting him repeatedly in the stomach. Piccolo knocks him down, then grabs him by the scruff off the neck, ready to deliver the final blow. His hand is caught in mid-air by Garlic Jr though, as he says that he has decided hat he will finish Gohan off.

THE PLAN IS REVEALED....

Piccolo actually speaks now, then grabs the small bottles containing Mr Popo and Kami, from out of Garlic’s pocket. He throws them to Krillen, then is blown backwards a little by Garlic’s power. Realizing that Piccolo was no longer on his team, Garlic turned to Krillen, who broke off the bottle tops, releasing the two people living on Kami’s lookout. They soar out of the bottles, and are relieved to be back to normal form. Confused at what was going on, Garlic Jr orders his minions to destroy Piccolo and Krillen, because he was sure that they were no longer on his team. Krillen is worried about Gohan, but Piccolo assures him that he will be fine, and he is, as he struggles to his feet, to see that his friends are somehow back to normal. Piccolo looks at Garlic and his minions, and prepares to fight.

They all pair off against someone. Gohan takes the Spice Boys leader, Krillen takes the muscular member of the Spice Boys, and Piccolo takes on Garlic Jr. Kami and Mr Popo take the sacred water, and try to think of a way to save the world. Garlic Jr tells them that there isn’t enough time anymore, and that everyone is doomed to abide by him for the rest of their lives. Mr Popo informs Kami of a secret passage, which takes them to the 7 winds, and if they can get the sacred water here, then it will quickly be blown all the way around the world. They nod, and set off. Mr Popo pulls out his magic carpet, and throws it onto the floor. They jump onto it, and are on their way. Garlic doesn’t want to let them go, so he tries to blast them. He misses, and hits the wall, making a huge gust of wind come in. Garlic tries again, and this time the shot is homing in towards its target. Piccolo appears though, and smacks the ball of energy away, mocking Garlic for the weak blast. Another shot comes in at him, and Piccolo easily deflects it away again. He then charges in at Garlic Jr, and the two go into a fist fight, with Garlic coming off better than the Namek. Piccolo is hit backwards, but he manages to land on his feet, with Garlic Jr out of breath. Piccolo thinks that he can win this fight.

THE BATTLE OF THE STRONGEST

Krillen takes on his opponent, and shows outstanding fighting prowess, blocking a series of punches, then catching the leg of his enemy. He is hit down to the floor before he can get a shot in though. He recovers, and charges at his opponent, and the two start a brawl.

Gohan takes on the strongest of the Spice Boys - their leader. The two are fairly evenly matches until the evil one gets behind Gohan, and wraps his hair round the kid’s neck. Gohan starts to go blue, gasping for breath. His arms drop by his side, as he is rendered unconscious. He manages to regain a little bit of energy though, and can open his eyes slightly. He sees Krillen getting beat up quite badly, and knows that he must help. Gohan explodes with energy, driving his opponent backwards. He then goes down to Krillen, who is on the floor. Krillen's opponent charges in at them, and Gohan blasts him with a Masenko, catching him off guard, and sending him into the wall. He is hurt badly, and unable to get up. The leader of the Spice Boys then comes towards them, and mocks Gohan, but Krillen charges in, and hits him in the stomach. While the Spice Boy is bent over in pain, Gohan goes up to him, and delivers an uppercut, which sends him right into the wall. Gohan and Krillen try to catch their breath, as they look on, watching Piccolo fight.

The Namek charges up a bit, and he and Garlic Jr exchange blasts. Piccolo uses his special beam cannon (Which he can now charge up to full power in a second) but it is dodged. Garlic Jr uses eye lasers, but none of them can hit Piccolo.

Piccolo uses his extending limb trick to chase Garlic with his arms, but he can’t catch him up. The two of them end up going back into hand-to-hand, with Piccolo becoming the obvious victor, knocking a bloody Garlic Jr down to the floor, then demanding that he gives up. Garlic Jr just laughs at him though, and staggers up to his feet. Piccolo is worried by this, and Garlic turns to face him. He tells Piccolo that the red star in the air is the source of his immense power, and with it, he is way stronger than he has ever been before.

GARLIC JR STEPS IT UP A NOTCH

He then holds out his arms, and the whole lookout starts to rock, shaking violently from side to side. Garlic Jr is surrounded in an aura of energy, and he laughs as he becomes more and more powerful. Piccolo realizes that Garlic Jr is transforming into his most powerful state, and shouts at Gohan and Krillen to get out of the place, otherwise they will be dead meat. The two run away obediently, but they can’t escape the mammoth blast that Garlic creates when he manages to fully transform into his strongest state. The blast destroys the whole place, bringing it down in ruins. Standing up through the whole thing though, was Garlic Jr. He laughs as Krillen and Gohan struggle to their feet, then Piccolo breaks out from under the heaps of ruble.

As al this has been going on, the two remaining Spice Boys had been rejuvenated by the red star, making them even more powerful than ever, and looking for revenge on the two that defeated them. Garlic advances on Piccolo in his new state, and knocks down a small pillar in one swipe. The Namek looks worried, as do Gohan and Krillen as they all create a circle, standing back-to-back, preparing to battle the oncoming group. Garlic Jr looks incredibly strong now, and the heroes look on, hoping that they can win this battle, despite the power up that every one of the enemies have received from the red star.

Before anymore fighting takes place, the two remaining Spice Boys jumps backwards, and look towards the red star. They give off cries of pain as they power up. They become totally different people appearance-wise. They are now far more muscular, and far more powerful. They look towards Gohan and Krillen, and get ready for round two of the battle.

Piccolo and Garlic Jr go at it, with neither one able to do a lot of damage to the other. They swing at each other for a while, and come to a bit of a stalemate.

Gohan and Krillen fight their opponents at a definite loss. Krillen is slammed through pillar after pillar, and Gohan tries to counter the leaders moves, but he is unsuccessful, and is easily beaten up. Krillen is getting destroyed, and has an amazingly little amount left. Gohan sees his suffering, and is very upset by it. Krillen is smacked down to the ground, and his enemy follows it through, by stamping on his chest. Krillen is stamped down into the ground, slowly losing his consciousness. Gohan tries to escape his fight to help Krillen out, but he is too busy holding off his own opponent.

Piccolo and Garlic Jr continue to go at it, with Piccolo losing out. He is knocked down to the floor, and then slammed into a pillar. It looks as though he is finished, and Garlic Jr certainly thinks so too, as he approaches the pile of rubble immersing the Namek.

Kami and Mr Popo are on their way to their destination, where the wind blows over the Earth, but they meet an unexpected obstacle. The spirit of a past guardian of the Earth. Mr Popo recognizes him as the previous guardian, who was in power before Kami. The spirit of the guardian charges at Kami, and knocks him down. The Namek gets to his feet, and is very groggy. He points out how sleepy he is, but Mr Popo tells him that he will never be able to return if he snoozes off now. Kami knows this, and manages to fight this off. The guardian shoots bals of energy at the two, but they manage to dodge it every time. Mr Popo explains to Kami how stubborn the guardian is, so Kami comes up with a plan worthy of a genius – Run. The two of them charge past the guardian, managing to outrun all of his blasts. After a short time, they run into some sort of glass wall. Mr Popo tells him that they can’t pass without the guardians permission. Kami refuses to give up now, and is blasted by some sort of electrocution attack from behind, making him fall to one knee. He knows that he mustn’t give up though, so he puts his hand on the wall, and starts to shout some sort of high pitched note, which shatters the wall. The two of them run on, but the ground disappears underneath their feet, making them fall slightly. Mr Popo manages to get out, but Kami is caught in the hold, which is sucking him in. The previous Earth’s guardian fires at Kami, but Mr Popo dives in the way. He is toasted, and Kami manages to get out of the vortex. Mr Popo tells him to go on, and they resume their running, smashing another of the glass walls as they run on.

Krillen is picked up by his enemy, and is thrown off the side of the tower. He is too badly hurt to retain his flight, so he plunges into the depths of the cloud-filled sky. Gohan elbows his opponent away, and dives towards Krillen. He is blocked by the two Spice Boys though, and he shouts out his friends name. The Spice Boys start plugging away at him, but they can’t seem to make contact. Gohan shouts out Krillen’s name a few more times, then loses control of his anger, and shoots out two Masenko’s to his sides, killing the remaining two Spice Boys. They are shocked by Gohan’s sudden power increase, as they are surrounded by the blast, eventually dying.

Garlic Jr continues to laugh, thinking that Piccolo is dead, but then the rubble starts to move. Out comes Piccolo, looking very mad. Garlic Jr is pleasantly surprised that Piccolo has been such competition for him. The Namek is angry now, and he uses a trick which gets him up to Garlic Jr’s size. He then runs at Garlic, and smashes him into a wall. He informs the evil being that he has put too much of his energy into power, and that his own speed will finish him off. Piccolo dives in, hitting Garlic Jr with all that he has got.

Meanwhile, Kami and Popo are venturing deeper and deeper into the dark passageway. Kami falls to one knee all of a sudden, and looks to be in massive pain. Mr Popo sees what’s wrong, and notices that Kami’s hand is disappearing. The same thing is happening to Piccolo, as his punch goes right through Garlic Jr. Kami then gets up, and manages to get his hand back to solid form. Piccolo resumes the beating that he was giving to Garlic Jr, but gets rooted to the spot when Kami’s legs start to disappear. Garlic Jr sees his chance, and gets off the wall, and attacks Piccolo. He gives him a beating in the short time that they are fighting, but Kami manages to use his willpower to overcome his problem, and his legs reappear, and Piccolo can move again.

Garlic Jr is putting a beating on Piccolo, but the good Namek manages to dodge a shot, and resumes roughing Garlic Jr up, now that he has movement in his legs. It seems obvious that Piccolo is far stronger than Garlic Jr. He flies above the ground and fires many energy beams at his enemy, taking a great deal out of the evil one.

Meanwhile, Gohan has given chase to Krillen’s falling body, and just about manages to catch it. He floats up, drops Krillen on the floor, and is delighted that Piccolo is ok. Piccolo waits for the smoke to clear, and Garlic Jr has gotten up, looking very weak.

Kami and Mr Popo are still running from the guardian, and they are nearing the end. Kami gets to a hole, leaps over it, but is met by a series of tentacle-like bits of spirit energy, which entwine themselves round him. His body slowly starts to fade away, starting with his legs. He struggles to get free, but it appears to be of no use.

Piccolo is affected by Kami’s loss of body, as he can’t move at all, and is thrown around the floor by Garlic Jr. The evil son of Garlic powers up an energy blast on his hand, and prepares to finish Piccolo off. Krillen tells Gohan that Piccolo is becoming weakened by all the things that have been happening to Kami, and that he needs to save him. Gohan realizes this, and he dives in, and catches Garlic Jr’s hand as he goes for a punch, then blasts it back. Garlic Jr is enraged by this, and he look on at Gohan angrily, as the kid protects Piccolo.

Kami finally escapes from the grasp of the grabbing spirits, and continues to run, the question is, will he be able to get to the winds in time? Piccolo gets his full body back, but can’t fight due to the risk of the same thing happening again, which would put him out of the battle.

Gohan prepares to battle, so he tells Garlic Jr that it is about to end, and runs in at him, clobbering him in the stomach. Gohan pulgs away, after taking Garlic by surprise, and actually harms the big guy a little. After a short while, Garlic Jr manages to recover, and swipes at the kids head. Gohan is too fast for him though, and dodges out of the way. He then jumps backwards, and runs in again, kicking the evil monster in the face, and knocking him down to the floor. Gohan thinks it’s over, but Garlic Jr gets up without much trouble. Gohan is surprised, but willing to continue. He runs straight at Garlic, and goes straight through the immortal giant, ripped a huge whole through his stomach. Garlic falls to the floor, and Gohan thinks that it’s over. Piccolo warns him that it isn’t though, so Gohan charges up a Masenko and throws it at him. There is a fairly big explosion, where Garlic Jr is on the floor, but once the smoke clears, he somehow manages to get up, making Gohan and Krillen tremble with fear. Piccolo reminds them that Garlic is immortal, and then they realize that their chance of winning are very small. Garlic Jr regenerates the wound in his stomach, then looks up to the red star (The macchio star) and his muscles increase in size. He laughs, then floats towards the shivering Gohan. The kid is too scared to fire anything at Garlic Jr, but before he can be attacked, Piccolo comes to save the day, kicking Garlic down to the ground. He charges at him to hit him again, but as he swings, his punch goes right through the monster. Kami is in trouble.

Kami and Mr Popo are fighting to stay alive in the passage that they are in, with the former guardians surrounding them, and ordering Kami to stay. There can be no more running now, and Kami tells them that he will not give up and be doomed to suffer the same fight as them. He tells them that he doesn’t want to become stubborn and evil like them, and will die if he has to in order to save the Earth. The guardians are surprised by this, and continue the punishment on him. Kami is rendering Piccolo helpless due to the beating that he is taking. Kami orders Mr Popo to take the bottle of sacred water to the end of the passage, where the winds flow. Mr Popo doesn’t want to leave his master at first, but in the end he does, very reluctantly. Mr Popo arrives at the source of the wind, and tips the bottle of sacred water over the small bottle which contains all the winds. The water tips down it, and is released underneath the tower, flowing freely across the world, and curing everyone before sunrise, meaning that the effects of the black mist are nullified. Kami continues to get destroyed by the guardians however. He is very close to death now.

Krillen charges at Garlic Jr, but is knocked right back down. Gohan then tries his luck, but he is hit into one of the few remaining pillars. It crashes down, landing on top of him. There is no sign of Gohan, and Piccolo and Krillen are on the floor, barely able to lift a finger. Garlic Jr advances on the two, laughing to himself as he does so. Garlic Jr is about to finish them both off, when Krillen comes up with a plan. He tells Piccolo to rest and regain his stregth, as Kami will be safe soon. Until then though, Krillen shall distract Garlic Jr. Piccolo agrees, then Krillen dives up, and goes back flipping towards Garlic Jr, then knocking him back with a kick, that took the big guy by surprise. Garlic Jr gets up, and taunts Krillen, but the bald headed guy isn’t intimidated. He charges up a KameHameHa, and shoots it at Garlic Jr. Before it hits the guy though, he pulls it upwards, then slams it down on his head, drilling him into ground. Smoke fills the sky, and Krillen thinks that it may finally be over, but Garlic Jr emerges from the smoke, looking fresh as ever. He advances on Krillen, and grabs him by the neck, lifting him up, and strangling him. Krillen is slowly fading away, with his eyes half shut. Piccolo wants to do something, but he is too weak. Garlic Jr continues to destroy Krillen, until Piccolo gets up, and demands that it stops. He runs at Garlic, and hammers him in the stomach, but can’t dent him. He looks at his hand, and sees that it is disappearing, because of the beating that Kami is getting. Garlic Jr capitalizes on this, and grabs the Nameks head, the begins crushing it, along with choking Krillen. The two are close to death until Gohan shouts for it to stop, temporarily distracting Garlic Jr, allowing for Piccolo and Krillen to kick him in the stomach and escape his grasp. Krillen then takes the big mans leg, and Piccolo grabs hold of his head. Garlic Jr can’t move, and Piccolo orders Gohan to fire his best shot at him. Gohan doesn’t think he can do it though, and stands there for a while. Eventually, he charges up a Masenko, but Kami is getting hurt again, meaning Piccolo’s arms disappear, and Garlic Jr escapes, then kicks Krillen off his foot, and ducks down to the floor, narrowly avoiding the blast. He is angry now, and starts to power up. Gohan goes over to his friends to help them out.

THE DEAD ZONE

Garlic Jr finishes charging up, then a huge hole is ripped through the sky, with a swirling vortex pulling everything towards it. Piccolo and Krillen recognize is straight away as being the dead zone – A portal which warps you to a small, dark container which bares no escape. It begins to suck everything in, uprooting trees, and making the rubble shoot in. The heroes stand there, having to put their all into staying on the ground. Gohan forms a KI shield around them all, to help them resist it.

Garlic Jr puts more strength into the dead zone, knowing that Gohan can’t hold it much longer. The kid continues to maintain the shield, but he knows that he can’t hold it forever. Piccolo sees the star, and realizes that Garlic Jr is getting all his power from it, so he orders Gohan to destroy it. The kid doesn’t want to though, because his friends would be suffering a high risk of plunging into the dead zone. He tells the fading Piccolo that he can’t let his friends suffer the chance of dieing, so he continues to increase the power of the shield that he has created, hoping that it will do the trick for them all. Garlic Jr laughs incessantly as the dead zone gains power, making it harder for Gohan to keep the shield up around them.

Meanwhile, underneath the battlezone, Kami is behind held in the air by energy beams directed atr him by four past guardians. He is hurting badly. Mr Popo arrives on the scene, and begs with them to stop, but they just ignore him. The pressure of the beams increase, and Kami starts to slowly fade away, making Piccolo fade away too. Large blocks fall down from the ceiling, almost crushing Mr Popo. Eventually, Kami’s assistant manages to persuade them to let his master go, and they drop him to the floor. Kami is very close to death now, and Mr Popo is trying to nurse him back to health. The past guardians of Earth shoot down one final beam, which revives Kami. They look at him menacingly, and Mr Popo says that this is the first time that they have ever let anyone live. Although Kami should feel proud, he insults the guardians instead, and they blast him through the ceiling, into the battlezone. Krillen sees Kami, and proclaims that he is back. Piccolo is standing up, and he tells them all that he knows.

Garlic Jr tries increasing the power behind the dead zone, and starts to suck them all in even further. Mr Popo and Kami hang on to a crumbled down pillar that is sticking out of the ground, hoping that they can survive this whole ordeal. As the power intensifies, as does Gohan’s shield of energy, as he has to make it more powerful to nullify the effects of the dead zone. Piccolo shouts at Gohan to blast the planet, but still the kid won’t, as he doesn’t think that Krillen can survive on his own. Piccolo sees that Kami and Mr Popo have lost their grip, and are being sucked into the dead zone, so he shoots out of the barricade, and shoulder barges the two back down to the ground, where they grab hold of something, and manage to stay there. Piccolo is now being sucked in though, and he decides not to bother resisting it, but to attack Garlic Jr instead. He charges at him, but isn’t prepared for the blast that he receives, as Garlic Jr shoots a purple ray out of his stomach, which Piccolo struggles to block. He is being sucked into the dead zone as he struggles to block the blast. Krillen sees that he is in trouble, and flies out of the shield too, shouting at Gohan to blast the star. Krillen then flies off to help Piccolo out. The Namek has managed to counter the blast with one of his own, but Garlic Jr merely catches it, then sends one of his own back, similar to the one shot out of his stomach, but shot out of his hand this time. Krillen dives in and blocks it for Piccolo, and the two of them demand that Gohan blows up the Macchio star. They are both being sucked in towards the red void that is the dead zone, and they can’t resist the pull much more. Finally, Gohan makes up his mind to help out his friends, and charges up a powerful blast, and blows up the source of Garlic Jr’s power. Space ripples because of the impact of the explosion, and Garlic Jr shrivels up into his normal form, then down into an even smaller version of himself, getting sucked into the dead zone. It finally stops, and folds up again, never to release Garlic Jr again.

Gohan screams out for Piccolo and Krillen, but can’t find them. Kami and Mr Popo emerge from under some rocks, and Gohan is delighted that they survived. He runs over, and congratulates them on managing to do so well. Krillens voice then comes, and Gohan moves off the rock he is standing on, which is then pushed up, revealing a very bruised Krillen. HE and Gohan hug each other, overjoyed at them both surviving. Piccolo’s voice then comes over from behind them, and they turn round. Sure enough, the Namekian is there, sitting on a rock, acting like his usual arrogant self. He commends Gohan on his fighting prowess, and tells him that he is a great friend. The three fly off, back to their respective lives, proud at being able to win over evil without Goku there for a change.

Gohan resumes his studying under the watchful eye of Chi-Chi, Piccolo goes back to his lonesome training and meditating deep in the abandoned plains, and the whole of Kame house are sunbathing, reading magazines, and generally having a good time.

Vegeta is still looking for Goku though, and he can almost smell him, he is that close. His venture continues, as he desperately wants to turn SSJ, and become stronger than his rival.

THE END

And so ends the Garlic Jr saga. Although this saga was only short, it provided some chances for Gohan, Krillen and Piccolo to prove themselves. With Garlic Jr out of the way, what evil could possibly overcome them?
