An opinion on anonymous raters |
Most of us here on the site have received an anonymous review at one time or another, and personally, I think rating one's work thusly is cowardly. These same individuals are most likely ones who would be offended should his/her work be rated in this fashion. Some questions spring to mind when speculating on why anyone would rate another's work anonymously. Those being, did he/she really even read the piece at all, or perhaps have another reason for making the secret rating? Regardless, in my opinion, only a coward would do so. Frankly speaking, there's also been some really shitty things done to several here on the site by anonymous raters. When hearing of them, I couldn't help but wonder if these people really want to be part of our community or merely stir trouble. I'll be as blunt as possible now. If you want an open and honest review, then be man/woman enough to make yours that way too instead of hiding behind the word anonymous. A reviewer should be tasteful and considerate when making constructive criticism, not hurtful or spiteful. Those making anonymous reviews must keep a couple of things in mind. Does he/she want the same method of rating used on their work? The other being that what comes around, usually goes around. |
