I’M NOT ME

The people that I meet,
Both the he and the she,
Have completely no idea,
That I’m not really me.

I was named by my father,
Who did not like his name,
But for some strange reason,
He made mine almost the same.

But right in the middle
He made it to be his deed
To honor the author of a book
He would frequently read.

So I’ve been a person
Who only answers hails,
Of the name of the man
Who wrote The Canterbury Tales

Who I really am
Has been quite a riddle
Because legally speaking
I’m not the guy in the middle.

So whenever I sign
Any legal type of form
Using the written form of my name
It’s been my usual Norm.

So I remain two people
Neither’s wrong nor right,
One’s the name I always hear
The other’s the name that I write.

So call me what you know
The other I will presume
Will be the name I only write
It will be my Norm De Plumme.
