Five years ago today I became a member of Writing.com, and it all keeps getting better. |
On March 1st, 2002, I signed up with Writing.com. A couple of months later I became a and I was thrilled. I felt like one of the chosen. I've accumulated 339 items since I've been here. I've had 4,152 visits to my portfolio! WOW! Amazing!! That is something to celebrate, and today is exactly five years since I signed in as a writer! How far I've come, since just yesterday it seems, 'ya know? Since a couple of my WDC BDs slipped by with no fanfare, I thought I'd celebrate this one. Join in! I'm half a decade here, and I think it shows. At Writing.com you don't get wrinkles with age; you get pages and pages of your own portfolio. I never would have kept up with all of my writing if I weren't posting it here. My raw writing skilll and my understanding of what writing is supposed to do has grown so much since I signed in as a black case with potential.. It really is an encouraging and humbling thing to have a birthday here. Sometimes, one needs to sit back and gloat over progress toward a goal, don't you think? I'm sporadic about reading and rating, but I've read so many extraordinary narratives, and many thought provoking poems, and I like the funny stuff and the serious stuff too. I by no means know everyone, but I'm familiar with a lot of handles. And I'm proud to know ya all! There are other writing communities out there but Writing.com is home sweet home to me. I started with my poem "Circus Circuits". I have written more poetry, short stories, novellas, editorials, entertainment reviews, I've written about writing, and now I'm even getting paid to write academic papers at DueNow.com. I always wanted to be a writer, and after being a member of this community for five years, and collecting 338 items in my portfolio, I can confidently say I AM A WRITER! It feels good to say it, and it feels good to do it. I'm soliciting Writing.com special remembrances for this day marking five years of forward progress in getting published. I'm either there, or very close--I can feel it in my toes The encouragement and constructive comments I've shared with other members, since the beginning, has always brightened my day and put a smile on my face. Would you help me celebrate, and send me a note, or a picture, or your favorite poem, or quote, or a link to one of your items, or a link to one of your picts, or your sig, or something . . . since I was born way before computers I lack the intuittion to make them create cool stuff. I receive it real gratefully though. What would be really fantastic would be in you could help me with summer sunflower don't-mow-this-area spot. I call it a wildlife stand. I'm planning to mark it off in my back yard for the first time since I moved to the new casa. It will be a wild bird habitat, and I'll have feathered friends and bees viisting me for sure. If you were able to send me a small handful of seeds (maybe a packet for simplicity) I'd love to have growing flowers from all over. I realize it's a lot to ask, but they say if you don't ask for it, you're probably not going to get it. If you send me seeds, I'll promise to send you a picture of what I'm able to grow. In the past, my yard has been recognized as a "wildlife habitat". It's because the birds and bees like my sunflowers My address is: Patrice Lauren PO Box 595635 Dallas, TX 595635-5635 . . .May your good karma return and make you smile for a mile. . . .
