My Promise To You

A long time ago a promise I made,
A promise I've held since the 10th grade.
I promised I'd be there for you through thick and thin,
and that it would be my heart that you'd win.

Times have come and things have gone,
but I'll always know where you belong.
We might just be friends after this day,
but in my heart, our love will stay.

You're going on a journey to a far away place,
Everyday I'll remember your sweet face.
I'll think of your smile and you eyes so bright,
And know you'll come back and make things right.

I miss the friendship that we once had,
ruined, because things had to go bad.
We used to fight and I'd always cry,
but now I'm afriaid that you might die.

I don't know what I'd do on that day,
If God did decide to take you away.
But know one thing, with your eyes so blue,
I'll always say that "I Love You".
