You can be so close to a crowd but and empty street can be a nasty place |
On a Black Night The Night was black, foggy and dark, the moon obscured by cloud, Midnight shadows lurking, waiting for the innocent in the Crowd The crowd sound grew more distant as you walked the winding street Entering the deafening silence, except for the noise under your feet Click clack, the sound of your shoes on the pavement beneath Breathing gets deeper, the cold night air chattering your teeth You stop; You Listen What was that noise you heard Silence all around you looking around you felt a nerd Walking on, you let out a sigh when that man passed you by You swallowed nothing your mouth was dry Good evening to you sir, you nervously say He tipped his hat as he passed your way Suddenly you stop you feel a sharp pain in your back You felt ill and woozy, was it a twinge, a needle, a thumb tack, Dizziness befell you and you were feeling faint There was fluid on the floor, you thought was red paint You panicked when you realised that the paint was blood it was yours, It was flowing fast and you didn’t feel good You entered the darkness and the light you passed through You were yet another victim of that murderous crew Daytime arrived with a blue flashing light like a laser beam Another dead body in the high street yet another crime scene She left early to avoid the rush, taking the short cut home The band still playing and people still dancing at the silver dome Oblivious to what was happening to that girl last night Not knowing only two streets away, happened this terrible plight. Is this murderous crew case ever going to be sorted? Or does another young girl have to get slaughtered? C. Paul Reynoldson 2007 |
