Girls love makeup at an early age, is it cute or depressing? |
A girl, cute as a doll, with her teddy bear, steps Into the tainted store with its signs, “Look beautiful Be sexy, and be perfect!” Her eyes gaze at the signs in order to understand The store, her teddy bear in one hand, her purse in the other, her tiny feet in her toy purple heels, She has learned a lot in her three years and most of all she knows girls need to be pretty, and sexy, so she wears her heels and “works it”, as she has seen the models do. She looks pure, She looks innocent and untouched, Her complexion is perfect, without flaw, Her cheeks nice and rosy naturally plump and ripened from the playful day in the sun, Her eyelashes naturally long and curled, never been touched by a curler or mascara wand, Her hair healthy, but frazzled from the sweat and humidity of playing outside in the rain. She steps toward the beauty room… Eager, she approaches the bright bubble gum colored gloss, purple, orange and pink nail polish, bright red lip stick, green, gray, silver, and gold eye shadow and face powder, ready To become beautiful, not realizing that she already is. She puts the bear down so that she may set her innocence to the side, Then with her tiny finger she places her hand in the lip-gloss tester With one sly side she smoothes the gloss over her lips, She looks in the mirror and is pleased, she looks more doll like than before, She continues to the other products… With each product and pleased reaction from the mother‘s and store’s associates, more and more of her careless attitude towards her looks disappear. She looks at her reflection one more time and rechecks the shadows, glosses, liner, then with a pleased grin, she steps lightly and exit’s the store. |
