Cool air gently caresses polished metal. Softly gliding, following the slow curves as it makes its way to the interior. Inside, oiled metal rubs against more metal. Gears, cogs, and plungers rapidly moving like clockwork in a never ending reprieve generating tremendous amounts of heat. The only prevention against seize up is the outside air that blows in to kiss some of the heat away, maintaining working temperatures.
A bird flies past the window. Lyner Barsett blinks, and sits up flipping a switch. An ambient humming starts to recede and the vibration Lyner feels through his seat dissipates until gone. The giant gear, sticking through the belly of the ship, slowly rotates to a stop. Lyner grabs the stick, points her nose to port, and goes into a controlled dive.
