A song I've written, based on a phrase I've always used to give me courage.
This song is my life story really. I wrote the song and the tune is mine, it is sung by a lovely lady called Louise Spade, a singer songwriter in her own right here in Northampton, UK.

When I was little, didn’t know just what to do,
When I was nervous began my nails to chew,
When I was shaking, beads of sweat upon my brow,
I’d say ‘here goes nothing’ and do it anyhow.

When I was sixteen I’d climb upon the stage,
Nerves so bad, like a war inside did rage,
Then I’d get a push, be told ‘go and do it now,’
I’d say ‘here goes nothing’ and do it anyhow.

‘Here goes nothing’ what have I got to lose?
‘Here goes nothing’ to try I have to choose,
‘Here goes nothing’ I'd say to ease the strain,
‘Here goes nothing’ and I'd step up once again.

Fright can come to you at any age,
Fears trapped me, kept me locked inside a cage,
I stopped doing, didn’t act, dance or sing,
Scared I’d be laughed at, didn't do anything.

A little older, why did I have to wait,
Until time passed and it's almost too late?
Why did I not listen to the words of that refrain?
Know that if I failed I could always try again.

'Here goes nothing’ if I'm made to look a fool,
‘Here goes nothing’ comediennes are cool,
‘Here goes nothing’ doubts crowd inside my head,
I refuse to listen 'cos you're a long time dead.

'Here goes nothing’ what have I got to lose?
‘Here goes nothing’ to try I have to choose,
‘Here goes nothing’ I say to ease the strain,
‘Here goes nothing’ as I step up once again.

'Here goes nothing' and I step up once again!
