Poem I wrote for Lit (finished) |
Visibility lost through the sheet of rain. The clouds making a dark stain. I look out across the sullen plain. The sight holding me like a chain. I feel, with nothing left to gain. All my endeavors have been in vain. All of those around appear so vain. Merely seeing rain. Looking for any possible gain Their attempts leaving only stain. Refusing to go beyond their chain Their simple lives remaining plain. We all reside in life's vast plain. Some seeing beyond, others just to vain. Restricted by a non-existant chain. Memories washed away by rain. Leaving this world with only stain. After having nothing left to gain. Most people look for something to gain Out of this vast plain. Others don't, leaving no trace or stain And believe their lives have been in vain. Others go and dance in rain Breaking free of their short chain. A binding thing, life's chain. Making us work to gain Leaving us with only rain. Looking longingly at this plain. Making us seem so vain, Leaving nothing more than stain. I look down at one carpet stain. Breaking my invisible chain My strong will not being in vain. I have so much more to gain Beyond this sullen plain, Beyond this sheet of rain. Not everyone acts so vain as to only leave a stain. Some see beyond this dark rain and seem brave enough to break their chain. And see so much more to gain, beyond this sullen plain. |
